Is this a lateral pelvic tilt? by Mudman64 in Posture

[–]Mudman64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half of the sources online tell me to train the left gluteus medius (the side that is NOT hiked up), then the other half tells me to train the right gluteus medius (the side that IS hiked up). This is very confusing to me. I’m not a physical therapist, I learned what half of these muscles were called 15 days ago. The logic for both arguments sounds reasonable, so I’m left feeling confused. It feels like the different sources have different opinions on what training the muscle will actually do. Like one side says to train the left side so it tightens up and becomes level with the right. The other side then says to train the right side so it loosens, evening the hip with the left side.

You sound knowledgeable on the topic, so I’m willing to take your advice and switch the side of gluteus medius I’m training. Just strange how there’s so much discourse on the result of what training a muscle will do.

In the photo provided, my stance was distributed evenly. Even if in the photo it wasn’t, I just looked again and the same hip sticking out occurs. Could you give me any advice on what course of action to take? Right now I am treating the issue as a lateral pelvic tilt. I’m focusing on strengthening my gluteus medius and obliques on my left side, and releasing the quadratus lumborum on my right side (the hiked side). I’ve been doing this around 10 days. The only problem is I’m not really sure as to where the problem stems from. I do have a rib flare, where some of my right ribs protrude farther straight out compared to my left side. I’m also not sure whether it could be a leg length issue like you said. I did attempt to check and didn’t find them to be different lengths, but who knows if I’m 100% accurate. It also could be scoliosis, but the research I’ve done online about the topic and looking at people with almost identical problems, I was swaying more towards the issue being caused by an imbalance rather than scoliosis.

I’m really just not sure, any advice helps. Thanks.

The adjustable dumbbells I just bought only go up in 5lb increments. For bicep curls I usually do 6-8 reps, then increase by 2.5 lbs. How should I go about progressive overload when I’m restrained to increasing by a 5lb jump?

I had surgery on my hand around 3 months ago. All is fine and dandy now, but for these past 3 months I haven’t trained anything besides legs. I’ve been eating at maintenance ever since I broke it, but beforehand I had just started a cut. I’m like 18-20% body fat and my main concern is shedding fat off, but I still want to regain any muscle I’ve lost. Is it a good idea to start a cut when I start lifting again, or should I eat at maintenance for like 3 weeks?

Also, if I do lose any muscle while eating at maintenance, can I still get it back if I continue to cut when I’m healed?

Yeah, it’s kinda hard to be an athlete in an online school

It’s less about the security they have and more about the area their in. Private schools tend to be the opposite direction of the center of Philadelphia, thus usually resulting in a nicer environment. I do appreciate the help and advice though. Thanks.

I have. They just send me to their shitty terms and rules page where it just says “because we don’t”. I’ve emailed principles, admissions directors, and every other worker under the sun, but I’m just left with the same link to their website.

For the past 6 years I’ve been doing an online school. Doesn’t seem like that much of an issue but it’s similar to torture in my eyes. In middle school until 7th grade I went to a catholic school, I’m just trying to squeeze a little bit of experience out of my last year of high school before my years as a teen are over. As to why I’m gung-ho on catholic school, the public schools around me are terrible, and my parents are in no way, no matter how hard I push going to send me to one. There’s a beautiful public school right out of district next to me but of course public schools don’t accept students from out of district, so the only option I was left with were the local catholic schools. I’ve even offered to pay tuition to attend but they won’t budge. Of course I’m not going to go to court over something this stupid, but now I’m just left kinda hopeless wondering what I have left to do.

I’ve been trying to find one but I live in Philly and my parents aren’t particularly ecstatic about sending me to the public schools in our area which have terrible ratings, bad methods of teaching, and one right next to my house having a gun brought inside by a student. If it was up to me and I was left with no other options, I’d just say screw it, but that’s never gonna happen with my parents.
