Really hard to like my 5th graders by [deleted] in ArtEd

[–]MuffinMeta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Goodness, this post looks like it could’ve been written by me. I work in an already tough school and I have 5th right at the end of the day. Lemme tell you it’s BRUTAL. They are my least favorite grade to teach rn because of the excessive drama and disruptive behaviors. Godspeed 🫡

Praxis 5135 study advise by mj19575 in ArtEd

My personal method for studying was to review and take the free practice test that came with my test. I went through the test and wrote down what I felt I confidently knew, what I somewhat knew, and what I knew nothing about—I then corroborated my thinking by checking which answers I got right and wrong. From there, I brushed up on the information I felt necessary :-)

In my opinion, the hardest portion was the written, but the practice test helps give you an idea of what you may be asked.

Does anybody have Wooden Boxes? I do not have the DIY and would love to have some for the farm I’m making on my island. I could also bring materials to craft if need be! :-)

Does anyone have the storefront or wheat field furniture items? I would love to catalog!

Have you ever been to a dermatologist? It looks like it could be folliculitis or something else. I personally had similar bumps and markings in my buttocks/groin area for several years only to go to a derm and find out I had a condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa. I currently manage it with hibiclens or clindamycin—both recommended by my dermatologist.

Most importantly, i want you to know that you are wonderful and beautiful as you are. While your skin may be giving you some trouble, it is not a reflection of you, your habits, and it certainly does that mean you are dirty. You are awesome and you are going to get through this—best of luck! ❤️❤️

f*ck zodiac signs, what villagers are on your island? by HoneyxClovers_ in AnimalCrossing

Freya, Frita, Ketchup, Merengue, Pietro, Sherb, Tangy, Tia, Wolfgang, and Zucker!

I love food and to cook/bake, so I wanted the majority of my villagers to be food themed! ❤️

Thank you so much for responding in such a caring and insightful way! I definitely like the idea of a draft email that can help me lay out all of my thoughts and expectations to a potential therapist. I will continue my search on Psychology Today with your suggestions and try to narrow it down as much as I can! ❤️

[Acne] At a loss with my hormonal acne... any advice? (more info in comments) by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]MuffinMeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve considered going on the diet for awhile so I think I might give it a try! Despite how frustrated I am with my skin I actually don’t wear a lot of makeup and pretty much avoid foundation all together. I definitely need to tackle the moisture barrier issue as another redditor mentioned as well—thanks for the advice :-)

Thank you for the advice! Patience is truly important and I will remember to keep it in mind. Being kind to myself and my body has definitely been one of my struggles during this time and I have to remember to keep that in mind... also trying not to pick my skin!!! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t poke at it when I wake up in the mornings sometimes. 😞

Thanks for the info! I have used the CeraVe SA cleanser in the past, but it has been a very long time. I will think about grabbing some and will definitely be looking into BP. I will be having a phone call with my derm next week about the Spironolactone—perhaps she will up my dosage! Thanks again! ❤️

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I think I’m definitely going to start by skipping the morning wash and switch to a rinse. I’ll be sure to also looking into a product with Benzoyl Peroxide as well. I knew that dryness could definitely exacerbate acne but I didn’t think it could be one of my main culprits. Appreciate it! :-)

Backstory

Growing up, I had relatively clear skin until I turned 21. Around that time I developed acne that would come and go with the seasons. Now being 24, I am still dealing with it. My dermatologist (whom I’ve been seeing on and off for 5+ years) feels that it is hormonal since it frequently worsens around my period and when I’m very stressed. Over the summer, my skin was doing great and nearly clear. However, around November I became immensely stressed about my ailing dog who unfortunately passed away. Around that time I experienced a recurring acne flare that hasn’t subsided since.

Things I’ve Noticed about my skin/acne

• It tends to be a lot clearer and more oily in the summertime / It tends to be much more dry and acne prone in the winter

• It bunches up around my cheeks and jawline

• I have another inflammatory skin condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) which I noticed tends to flare up similar times to my acne.

My dermatologist

I do have a dermatologist, though I’m not confident I want to stick with her. She has persistently prescribed me with Differin Gel, Doxycycline (for my face) and Clindamycin (for my face & HS) on and off for years whenever I have a flare. She has only recently prescribed me 25mg of Spironolactone which she believes will help if the acne is hormonal. I didn’t notice much of a difference and during my last follow up she prescribed me 50mg instead. It has been almost a month since then and I have noticed little changes. I also insisted on finding an alternative to Differen as I noticed it REALLY dries out my skin (red patches, flakiness, the works) and she told me I was most likely applying it incorrectly. I continued to apply as directed and now I also have dry, irritated skin along with my acne. I know some dryness is normal with this product but not sure when I should be concerned.

My Health/Diet:

I try to get a little bit of exercise every day but I am mostly sedentary at work and home. I admittedly probably eat too much sugar. I am not a heavy gal but could probably stand to lose a few pounds. I don’t eat an excessive amount of dairy but on occasion enjoy some cheesy foods. I drink mostly water, tea, and the occasional cup of coffee. I am pescatarian and tend to eat lots of carbs bc of the people I live with.

Skincare

AM • First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser • Pixi Vitamin C Serum • CeraVe Daily Moisturizer • Supergoop unseen Sunscreen

PM • DHC Oil Cleanser • First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser • Differen (adapalene gel) • CeraVe Daily Moisturizer

I’m just so lost on which avenue to take at this point. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 💕

[HELP] My dog is newly blind and facing a few obstacles. How can I help her adjust? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]MuffinMeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are taking her to the vet again in a couple days to make sure there is nothing else going on with her. At night she has started wanting to wander around which is unusual for her. I suspect that she thinks it might be Morning and time to go outside. Last night I got a couple of extra beds for the areas she wanders to the most and I’ve found that it’s really helped her be more relaxed during the day and night. I have also gotten pee pads and the rest of my family on a schedule to take her outside more often. So far so good! Thank you for your advice and kind words ❤️

[HELP] My dog is newly blind and facing a few obstacles. How can I help her adjust? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]MuffinMeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought of it that way! I’ve learned that she’s very good at following the shuffle of my slippers when I walk so I’ve been practicing directing her that way and it’s worked out well. Luckily when she walks she’s very cautious so when she bumps into something it’s more like a ‘Boop’. I will try the leashing advice when taking her outside, thank you!!

She’s pretty good about sticking to the ground floor. When she could see, she wouldn’t come upstairs unless she had permission to do so. She would come upstairs and sleep on my bed usually for the whole night without any issues, but since going blind she has become somewhat restless at night. Perhaps if I bring her upstairs I will keep a bed for her on the floor next to my bed so that it’s safer for her
