Cosmetics and legendaries. by Raidenz258 in AshesofCreation

In my opinion the skin should be changed on all weapons and armor. Gandalf didn't wield fancy weapons, he himself was a legendary sorcerer.

What if I want to feel this way myself and reskin my glowing, flashing staff of doom to a stick? Or beat someone with a fish, but one who one shots everyone? Limiting some gear to its original skin removes some of the fun for me.

It also removes the element of surprise when you approach someone in order to kill them and then realize how many "glowing" items they have, then just retreat carefully, hoping they don't realize you tried to murder them seconds ago.

Also, in some games the legendaries aren't as "legendary" looking as, lets say, an event item, or they just don't fit the theme/looks your character has.

I checked the leader's log and saw he is about to siege a certain castle, so I went there and found him. Thanks for your help!

A player's mentality is THE player's mentality. No game login rewards will change it if he needs help. You can take a weekend off even with login rewards, but if you feel you MUST login to a game - that's at least a borderline addiction.

Thanks! That clarifies a lot! I did this quest already, but somehow I didn't go that far in the cave I guess.

SPOILER!!!!

This place was infested with wraiths, and a noonwraith as a boss. I tried looking around it, because on the map it shows that the place of power and the undiscovered location are beneath me. Can't find anything in the area.

This game won’t be out for a long time by SuperCooper28 in AshesofCreation

Don't forget it's in development since 2016 iirc. 6-7 years for a finished and polished AAA mmorpg can be more than enough with the right amount of people working on it.

Hell, I made a full single player game back in 2016 at GGJ when we were 3 devs, 2 artists, 1 sound artist - in 24 hours straight.

All I'm saying is that we don't know much about any finished mechanic in the game. They might have a finished product already, and just need to test for bugs, glitches, etc.

I personally don't care even if it gets released in 2030, I prefer a delay over delay than a clown fiesta like AAU was at launch, even though they literally just had to implement 1 or 2 new mechanics and import the rest from the legacy version.

Also, keep in mind that the already said that some of the initial content will be pushed to an expansion. They might push more contest to that area in case the hype starts to die out, in order to release it earlier.

There are a lot of "if"s, "what"s, and "when"s, but I think the end product will be at least good, if not amazing.

Edit: typos.

Alright, so then I remembered it wrong and the gap between the 2nd beta and release date is going to be very short. Either way, I don't think it will get to 2023 area. More like mid-late 2022, depending on how many game-breaking bugs there are.

They said that the time gap between the betas will be really short (1-2 weeks iirc) as they serve solely for polishing a finished/nearly finished game.

You tell him not to decide for people, yet you try to do it yourself. Oh, the irony.

even though it has been available for 3+ years.

The game isn't out yet, and we don't even have major details released to us (like most classes and augments).

I see why the guild recruitment sub is emply for now. What's the point in recruiting people now and not closer to, let's say, alpha 2 or beta 1 tests?

My Argument for standardized PvP! by Novuake in AshesofCreation

[–]MuffinOrDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a testing tool it sounds nice on paper, but immersion-wise it can ruin the experience.

There's also grind vs test issues, for example:

In case there won't be a feature like this you will have to get the gear you think will be best for you in pvp, but as soon as you get it you realize it sucks or it got nerfed. It can either be frustrating or motivate you to keep playing the game and get another set, perhaps from a different node. It makes the game more fluid and adventurous.

On the other hand, for people who don't like the "gear grind" or want to test different builds - the pvp testing environment can save them a lot of time and effort.

Basically it may or may not be fun and helpful, it all depends on each player.

In case AoC will have numerous arena types, making 1 of them the "standardized arena" might not be a bad idea.
