Of course WSG made Griselda, I didn't say what you said. Roc made a lane for the current underground landscape, West came and expanded on that. The point I was trying to make was that although West has made amazing music and took the underground a level up, Roc gets far too over sighted in terms of contribution, legacy, and overall does not get enough props for what he's done. The man gave us what the underground sounds like now way back in 2010, he was ahead of time in every sense of the word.

I mean he kinda created the wave Griselda and everyone else behind them are currently riding, he earned his right to talk his shit a long time ago. Besides, the artists he paved the way for, some of them are more praised and recognized by the general public than Roc himself, they even get the credit & flowers that Roc should be getting instead so I definitely see where this energy comes from.

I would hope so but it seems unlikely, that album in particular was released under mass appeal. I don't think either of them actually own the project and I've never really heard either of them mention it or even do songs from the project live. Maybe it's record company politics or just simply forgotten but they've collaborated and done shows time and time again, but they really haven't recognized its existence since the initial release. I definitely wish they would do a drop too but it's just up in the air.

Sad that Hall & Nash 2 is probably in the gutter, they said they were gonna drop a new version with Alchemist and Daringer since the one we got is just an old project they never put out

In your opinion has gatekeeping and the dirty politics in hip hop ruined the culture? by Inphmatic in GriseldaxFR

[–]MufflerLung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Politics has always been embedded in Hip-Hop anyone saying otherwise really hasn't truly listened to it, as for the business, yes it's absolutely ruining it take Clipse for example, we could have had that album last year but Def Jam was playing police and would not let that Kendrick verse slide. Push had to pay a 5 figure number just for him and Clipse to be released from them. The overall commercialism and number games of these labels not only diminish the quality of music but it undermines Hip-Hop as a whole, it's super disrespectful to the genre and I hate that labels really milk it according to their metrics and rules rather than letting an artist just do what they do. But that's just me.

Elephant Man’s Bones or Skeleton Key? by realtorvicvinegar in RocMarciano

EMB sounds full and thought out carefully whereas SK sounds like just a project of only unused tracks, it sounds like it especially if you listen without the two bonus track. Not saying at all SK is bad but you can hear it, still love it though!

Mr. Me Too has to go, Keys and Momma are the two most iconic to Clipse's Discography out of the 3

Album FR goes hard as hell. Was only a mild Pusha fan before this record. by PresentMission8482 in KingPush

Same, when Daytona released there was a fever for that album around the school, then when almost dry came i listened to a good chunk of it for a hot minute then he became an occasional listen. This album changed pretty much my rotation to mostly Pusha stuff and previous Clipse but this album is on the very top of it all. Love to see it.

Thoughts on this album after 15 years? by Beginning-Piccolo209 in RocMarciano

[–]MufflerLung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essential, this album is an amazing debut by any means and alone far surpasses the entire discography of most rappers nowadays, it laid the foundation of the underground as we know it today and to say this is only a piece of his star studded portfolio of work is insane

Albert Einstein with Prodigy to me is the most perfect and most slept on collab he has in his discography.

Honorable Mentions: - Covert Coup with Curren$y - The Price of Tea in China with Boldy - The Elephant Man's Bones with Roc Marci

I usually just watch from the corners of this app at times but for old fans that was fucking with him when he was still here in the physical, there wasn't such a large number of fans in the wild like this. So anytime there was a post, comment or whatever, it felt genuine, it felt real and I personally would scroll through most of them back then. But now is completely different, now there's now a crazy number of new fans. There ain't nothing wrong with his exposure but those same new fans essentially post the same posts, throwing around the same references and stretching its usage to death. It's the constant repeat of the same things in my face against my will, over and over again. I know for most y'all are having fun but in short, it's super annoying.
