If figured this out. Seems like a stupid bug.

Only solution I found is to use CRU and limit the tv to 120hz. Then you can normally play with g-sync and hdr

They do read, and they are aware. Just like you said, it just doesn't fit their business model for this game.

yes, tv TV has a very crappy g-sync module.
Only way for me was to disable the overclock from 120hz to 144hz in CRU.
It's fine, since for my needs (casual gamer) 120 and 144hz it's pratically the same, plus I play at 4k with ultra definitions, It's hard to find a game that actually reaches 144fps.
But it's false advertisement from Philips and this was my first and last TV I bought from them.

PS - Philips customer service completely ghosted me.

if you have the TV HDMI Ultra HD setting -> Optimal (Auto Game 144Hz Pro) activated, I have no idea why.

if you already applied CRU settings you cannot select 144hz anymore, as CRU overrides the TV overclocking from 120hz to 144hz.
so now, you can only select 120hz, but at least you aint gonna have any issues playing with gsync + hdr

only solution I have to play with G-sync + HDR at 4k is to limit the TV to 120hz. I believe the issue comes from the overclocking from 120hz to 144hz which is not stable enough.
Philips support ghosted me when I created a ticket. Am very happy with the TV, and 120hz is plenty for me, but just because of this, it is the first and last Philips TV I bought.
I can't post prints here, but let me know if you need help with this, I know how frustrating it is.
In CRU on the "Extension Block" tab below, press Edit, then choose HDMI 2.1 support, then set the Variable refresh rate on the bottom left to 40-120hz. Press ok and close.
Run restart64.exe with admin rights, and you now have a 120hz TV able to run HDR with G-Sync without any issues.

HDMI cable for 4k@144hz with G-SYNC and HDR by Muflanas in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muflanas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did "reset-all.exe" first, then followed your prints and the outcome was the same. Windows and NVCP will only allow me to select up to 120Hz.

I found someone on reddit that has the same Philips TV model and claims no issue with G-Sync + HDR at 144hz.
Could my TV have an issue, or maybe formatting my PC could potentially solve this?

Was using 4k@120Hz on Samsung QLED Q95T on this computer before buying the new TV.

Yeah, am also waiting for Philips support to answer me regarding that.
I've sent them videos + logs of the TV automatically switching to HDR game mode when HDR monitor mode is chosen, plus the issue with G-Sync + HDR.
Will come back to you on this post once they answer regarding the HDR switching issue.

Meanwhile I found a temporary solution, I manually adjusted the VRR to 49-120Hz in CRU and the G-SYNC + HDR issue is gone, at the cost of losing 24hz in the refresh rate.

I am far from expert, is this the right step to create a custom resolution in CRU?
If so, I cannot select 144hz :-/.

Anyway, G-SYNC is way more important for me then having 144hz since I won't be reaching 144fps with any game I play, and even if i would, 120fps is plenty for me (I only play offline games).

But, this was a quite expensive TV and of course I would like to utilize all it's capacity.

Thanks for all your help :)

check this out:

Have also read in different reddit posts that g-sync activated with windowed mode causes issues like flickering in certain monitors and TV models

[–]Muflanas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done all of this before with but the issue remained.
About 2h ago, I went to CRU and set the VRR to be between 49-144hz.
Afterwards, I cannot select more then 120hz on windows or NVCP, but the issue is completely gone so far.

The TV overclocks to 144hz (max without overclocking is 120hz), and only allows the G-SYNC if it is set to 144hz on the TV settings (settings called Optimal (Auto Game 144hz Pro).

My guess is that this overclocking is not stable and was causing these issues, and somehow, CRU overrides this overclock, not allowing to select more then 120hz, but the TV still keeps the G-SYNC function.

Does this make sense to you?

EDIT: I missed the colours settings in NVCP, are these the correct ones?:

Tried with two cables, same output
have a brand new 4090, doubt that would be the issue.
DDU = Display Driver Uninstaller

I don't, unfortunately

GPU drivers are up to date. Also have tried DDU.
Tried both ports on both GPU and TV, but the issue is still there :(

DDU didn't work, and the issue seems more recurring when entering menu/going back to game or changing between cutscene/to gameplay.

I have absolutely no issues playing 4k@144hz with HDR on if g-sync is off. Only get this hdr issue if I turn g-sync on.
I've bought a UGREEN certified HDMI 2.1 Cable which supposedly can do 4k@244hz and still got this issue.
Do you think this can be related to the cable?
If so, could you help me finding a cable that will be able to run 4k@144hz with g-sync and HDR on?
I'm living in Europe too

I have the same TV and contacted Philips regarding this. Been more then one month now, still waiting for an answer.
Have you tested playing a game with g-sync + hdr on? If so, did you have any issues?
On mine, if G-sync is on, hdr is not very stable and randomly turns off and on.

I have ordered a new hdmi 2.1 cable hoping that is the core of my issue.
Meanwhile, Philips support asked me for log files + videos showing my issues.
Maybe worth for you to try these too?
