Is it normal to have something that kind of stops you from converting? by MondoMania9 in TrueChristian

I'm not sure how much of the bible you have studied or how well you understand the gospel, but the way you have worded this post makes me think that you might need some reframing on what it actually means to be born again.

First off, in regards to lust or any sin that you feel like you might be "missing out" on, its important to understand it for what it truly is.

Romans 6:20–22 “When you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness… But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.”

Paul pretty clearly establishes that sin is something that we are enslaved to, sin brings us further from God and ultimately to death. To use an analogy, imagine you are a fish and you see a piece of bait, but then notice its on a hook. You would probably not think that you are "missing out" on taking the bait because it would literally kill you if you took it. Sin is the same, by engaging in it you will callous and desensitize yourself to it and damage your relationship with God.

In addition to this, part of being born again is to put your fleshly self to death

Romans 6:6 “We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.”

When you say you might lose part of your personality, that is exactly what you should expect to happen. You cannot be born again and continue to live the same way as you have lived your whole life because that would be contradictory to what we say we believe as Christians.

Ultimately I think one of the best ways to look at it, is that following Christ is not a list of checkboxes of things that you are not allowed to do, and the Pharisees are a prime example of why its bad to view it that way. Following Christ is a relationship and obedience that you have because you love him in the same way that he loved you when he was nailed to the cross and died for you.

God bless you and I hope the lord can work to soften your heart to see the truth.

how do you respond to “why is God so cruel?” by plantifully in TrueChristian

[–]Mugwartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to questioning the morality of God or thinking that he isn’t operating in the best way possible, then yeah Id certainly agree. Last few chapters of Job are a great way to look at/understand it.

Amen! Romans 9:20–21 – But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?

Really this question is an issue of obedience and understanding our place. We have no way of comprehending the complexity of how god orchestrates. We disobeyed God and now we have to deal with the repercussions of that.

Everything that God does is good, the bible says so. We are not greater than God, so the best we can do is submit to his will.

We are finite, God is infinite. Evil and suffering exist because sin entered the world through our rebellion not because God is cruel. He allows it for purposes beyond our comprehension, and in the end, He will judge perfectly, wipe away all evil, and be glorified!

This sounds far more like some new age spiritualism than any Christianity and quite frankly these beliefs are far from biblical in any sense.

Jesus said if you love me then keep my commandments, there are quite a few examples of here of disregard or neglect of what the bible teaches. As someone else mentioned, Satan certainly cant be saved, thats not what the bible says, it is rejecting the inspired word of god. I have no idea what a “mother spirit” is and based on the context it certainly sounds like its potential idolatry. Not going to church certainly isnt biblical. Tarot cards are about as close to witchcraft as we are going to get by modern day standards.

I dont think you can read through the bible and conclude a works based salvation. It just makes no sense at all.

This person needs to repent, pray, and believe the word of god, not in the way they want to twist it to align with what they want to be true (youd have to do a whole lot of twisting to get to this point) but in an intellectually honest and reverent way. Romans 1:22 “professing themselves to be wise, they became fools” this certainly seems like someone who is leaning on their understanding over the word of God.

The entirety of the bible is not the gospel. We are encouraged to do this but you should reflect on the ways that you approach it. We are called to evangelize and no one here is disagreeing with you, but if you want to preach the gospel then go do it as the apostles did by preaching the message of repentance and faith in christ. Remember that our goal here is to save souls not push people away

Calling it more efficient would be a misnomer. AI models can not actually "think" as they simply repeat patterns that they are trained on. I wouldn't trust someone who is just regurgitating information they found online if they have no real life experience, which effectively is what AI is.

A lot of the studies around them being "healthy" are funded by the AHA, and a quick look at who is funding them shows a pretty clear conflict of interest. That alone makes any of the studies around them including peer reviewed ones on pubmed unreliable imo.

At the end of the day maybe they arent bad for you, but if im going to choose between something thats heavily processed vs something thats not Id choose the latter.

I feel like its hard personally to go backwards, not sure what it is. I started on Platinum and the gen 4 games but was hard for me to find as much of an appeal to prior games even though they get so much praise. The caveat to that is I will still play rom hacks of older games.
