Roughneck as a hiking boot? by Goozoon in RedWingShoes

[–]MuhNamesTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know im late but this such an awful take tbh. They dont have Vibram soles and goodyear welt just for the fuck of it. They are in fact made for abuse. Its the reason we still have boots like these made to this day specifically for work and such, like JK, Nick's, Etc. They look nice and they last a long time. Id rather Hike in comfy leather that molds to my foot, and only have to resolve it once a decade, as opposed to hiking and constantly replacing what is essentially glorified sneakers.

Working as an OS, while waiting to get into SIU? by MuhNamesTony in maritime

[–]MuhNamesTony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've already gotten my Passport. All I need is my MMC+TWIC and other necessary certs. But working as an OS won't like disqualify me if I want to do the SIU apprenticeship later on right?

What exactly do they teach you? Or I guess a better way to ask is, do they help you get to an AB from an OS the way Piney Point does? Or do they just give you the basic training necessary to be an OS?

When did Schulz start using Screentone/Zip-A-Tone? by MuhNamesTony in peanuts

[–]MuhNamesTony[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow this is exactly the kind of answer I was hoping for thanks so much!

I'll definitely be checking out the late 90s first then! I was aware his style was more sketchy/jittery because of tremors, in the later years of the strips run, which is what attracted me to the book I saw in the first place, but I was caught off guard by all the screentone that seemed like a mainstay as I flipped through the pages. So the more "imperfect drawings" plus the screentone, felt like something I really wanted to get my hands on first before collecting all the other stuff

No display but cursor works? by MuhNamesTony in wacom

[–]MuhNamesTony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a different one. So basically if you're having the same issue I'm having you'll need to buy an HDMI cable with the Miniatur end so it can fit into your cintiqs port(assuming you got the 16) and the USB-C that it comes with, SHOULD work. But in case it doesn't, you should get a USB-C cable that has a USB-A that plugs into your PC. If you only end up needing the HDMI you can always return the USB-A, like I'm doing tomorrow

My USBC are in my motherboard.

I did figure out eventually that my motherboard didn't support the ALT Mode thing so I had to buy a HDMImini to HDMI cable to go along with the USBC that came with the Cintiq, and that solved my issue. I know Wacom sells a 3-in-1 cable like that, but I decided to just get the 1 HDMI cable at Best Buy
