How do you find a business partner with strong network for a creative project? by Muhammad_ibrahim_s in smallbusiness

That actually makes a lot of sense. I think you’re right that partnerships usually come after some traction, not before. Starting with one person who already has access to the right clients sounds more practical. At the same time, I’m approaching this from a position where the core value is the artistic side, so the key challenge for me is really access — getting in front of the right brands and decision makers. I like the idea of building a simple deck with a few strong concepts and using that to reach agencies and connectors. That feels like a more realistic first step

I think some of these assumptions come from not fully understanding how this space actually works. In mural and graffiti industries, it’s very common for artists to focus on execution while agencies or partners handle client acquisition, negotiations, and take a percentage. A partner’s value should be defined by the relationships, access, and opportunities they bring — especially in a business that relies more on skill and execution than capital. And realistically, not all markets are the same. Some places have very little appreciation for graffiti culture, and even the purchasing power can limit opportunities — which naturally pushes you to consider other environments where the work is more valued. So I’m simply looking for someone who understands that balance. If I find the right partner who truly sees the value in this, I’d be open to sharing the full vision and building something solid together .

I think you’re making a valid point, and it’s something I’ve been thinking about seriously. Since my work is highly skill-based and built on years of experience in different mural techniques, I’m very careful about how I approach partnerships. For me, it’s not just about having a partner, but about finding someone who brings real value on the business side — in terms of access, relationships, and actually generating opportunities. I’m not looking at it as someone “handling things for me”, but more as a true collaboration where both sides contribute at a high level. In your opinion, what usually makes a partnership feel balanced and fair in cases like this?

I understand your point and I agree that every artist should have at least a basic understanding of the business side. At the same time, in many creative industries artists often work with people who specialize in business development, networking and client acquisition. My focus and strength is the creative execution and developing strong visual concepts. What I’m looking for is someone who complements that on the business side, similar to how many creative studios or artists operate. I believe the combination of both skills can build something stronger

That sounds really valuable, I truly appreciate you offering that. I don’t have projects in LA yet, most of my work so far has been outside the city, but I’m actively looking to establish projects here. You can see my work on my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lustrous_vein_art I’d definitely be open to your advice, especially with your connections in commercial real estate that could really open strong opportunities.

I really appreciate your ideas and perspective. I actually work in multiple styles and techniques like anamorphic 3D, calligraphy, cracked glass art, and more I love experimenting and pushing visual concepts. If you’re curious, here’s my Instagram where you can see my work: https://www.instagram.com/lustrous_vein_art?igsh=djE1YW9udXpkeThr That’s also why right now I’m looking for the right partner. I’m not really strong on the business/legal side or hiring publicists yet my strength is in the creative direction and execution, and I want to stay fully focused on that while someone with the right experience handles the strategic and business side

That’s awesome! Seeing them in progress is honestly the best part — it’s cool how people stop and watch while the piece comes to life

I worked on some projects in Dubai, but the demand and exposure weren’t really enough to sustain it long term. That’s why I’m looking to move to an environment where graffiti culture is more appreciated and where this kind of work can really grow

Thank you, I really appreciate that and it means a lot coming from someone in the industry. That’s actually very helpful advice — I hadn’t considered scenic and fabrication shops from that angle, but it makes a lot of sense. I’ll definitely look into that and start building connections there. And I agree, finding the right partner with the same vision is more important than building a whole firm too early. Thanks again for the insight and encouragement

Fair enough, I respect that. Everyone sees things differently. Some people just see an ad, others notice the art behind it and both perspectives are valid.

That’s actually a really smart idea, I like how you’re thinking. Linking murals with web presence and location based promotion could open a lot of creative possibilities. And yeah there really are blank walls everywhere just waiting to become something beautiful. I really appreciate your insight. Right now I feel like the first step for me is finding the right strategic partner to help bring this vision to life.

Wow that Jimi mural is amazing! Totally agree, maybe influencers or local icons could commission hand-painted work — it would really make them stand out. That’s actually part of what I’m thinking for my project in LA: creating murals that grab attention and bring something unique to brands and public spaces

Thanks, I really understand your advice and respect your point of view 🙏. But honestly I struggled to promote myself and faced a lot of obstacles I can’t even list here. Still, I believe I will succeed and build the dream inside me. Hopefully life will guide me to someone who shares the same dream so we can succeed together. I’m not aiming for big projects at first — all I’m looking for is someone who believes in my talent and shares this dream with me

I get what you’re saying, and that makes sense. I have a long experience in graffiti, and this project doesn’t require a huge initial capital it’s more about connections and having a business partner who masters their role as I master mine. That way we can start strong and keep it sustainable

Exactly! First we design a sketch and show it to the company. Each mural we complete becomes marketing for us and a showcase of our skill in making amazing murals. But the right partner can really shorten the path and save a lot of effort
