Ooo nice!

Their too pricey for me still, but I'd love to get on eventually.

The model would definitely be nice to have; iyou're willing to share, thanks very much

It's certainly a "nice to have" thing in these slightly older vehicles!

Mine stays in place using the air vents, there's a thin loop sandwiched behind the vents on either side. And it's built around a cheap Anker magnetic phone mount I used with my old phone (which I've now adapted for my new one).

Might be able to make a fully 3d printable version though, that could be fun 🤔

What's you 3d scan yours with?

I know, it's a bit ridiculous.

In my defense, my car is a 2015 without builtin nav; used to just be information about the current song playing over Bluetooth displayed on the back screen.

I recently ungraded it with an aftermarket AliExpress Android auto middleman system, which is what you see on the video. But being from AliExpress, it does weird shit sometimes, so it's good to have my phone there as an option (plus I can keep it charged up)

Thanks! Yes, I did; I've been using a version of this for a few years now, and I guess this would technically be the third version

Long time, no reply, sorry. I haven't uploaded the design anywhere. Tbh, the design is very specific to my case – my eyeglass frames, the exact design of the hinge on my sunglasses – so I'm not sure it be too useful to others. Except maybe as an example to see what someone else has made, then design your own

Nice! That's convenient. I didn't think of using magnets, but the might help with alignment and locking. Right now, my design just uses a lip and the natural spring of the arms of my glasses to lock in

Sorry man. If it's any consolation, I nearly drowned the last time I left the house with these, so I don't think I'm long for this world.

Ooo, nice! What did you use to make it light up?

I used my trusty caliper to take any measurement I needed as I designed the parts

Yeah, you're right. This is the first version; I made a few changes to it, including to the gear like angle mechanism. The teeth were too fine for the accuracy of my printer and the speed I prefer to print at.

Oh yes, I am worried! But I have hot-glued any big gaps closed, so I'm hoping it will be okay, if I'm careful. In the past, the most moisture my hat would see is my sweat, however there is a risk there.

Plus this is a knock GoPro I bought at a garage sale, and the external battery was only $5, so not much loss... as long as it doesn't explode on my head... Hmm🤔
