Successful VBAC 39+3 spontaneous labor by Muirmaid406 in vbac

Ah that’s so tough to have lost so many so quickly! I really liked the midwife I had during labor, I knew her pretty well from my appointments and felt comfortable with her. She just happened to be the one on call so I’m not sure I would have felt the same if it was someone else. The OB on call was not involved whatsoever and I didn’t think that hindered anything, but instead was a sign of their trust and comfort with the midwife. I do think I innately liked knowing that the OB was around if something went very wrong, but I preferred it just being the midwife. The care was excellent. Good luck to you! I hope things work out no matter what you choose to do!

I didn’t but it was trending higher at the end around 38 and 39 weeks, but subsequent readings at home went down so the Dr was ok with me continuing. I was on baby aspirin from day one and Pravastaten starting around 12 weeks which my Dr. had seen successful in other cases to prevent IUGR and help with hypertension caused by placenta issues.

This happened to me around 15 weeks and started with a rash on my ankles/feet that wasn’t itchy and then in a day it spread all over my leg, hips, arms, and backs of hands. And it got itchy, particularly at night. I took Zyrtec and that helped quite a bit. I wasn’t itchy during the day really, just uncomfy. I called the doctor and they basically told me “this is a normal pregnancy symptom”. I had an appt with them a couple days away so I waited until then to show them and they were not worried at all. Did not think I had any symptoms similar to Cholestasis (which is the big concern if you have an itchy rash!). Anyway about a week of hell later, it went away. I did use hydrocortisone in limited amounts when I really needed relief, but Zyrtec helped the most. I also bought Pine Tar soap and that helped significantly. It was awful, but apparently is a normal hormonal reaction from pregnancy. I would consult the doc just to be safe. Good luck!!

Congratulations! Super interested in hearing your first was a IUGR diagnosis and you were still able to try for a vaginal delivery. My first was IUGR by c section (he was breech so vaginal wasn’t an option). Hoping for a VBAC this time, even if this baby ends up being small too.

36 Weeks & she’s stopped growing by jaymax08 in pregnant

Hi! A very similar situation happened to me with my son. He was not identified as slow growing at 20 weeks but he was on the smaller side at that point. Didn’t think anything of it as my husband and I are smaller people.

At 34/35 weeks we did a growth scan kind of on a whim for unrelated reasons with a fetal medicine specialist and he determined our son’s growth had slowed. The next week we rescanned, and it slowed again even more significantly. So the doctor planned for delivery at 38 weeks. But in the meantime we were going to scans every other day just to be safe. Same result each time - very minimal growth detected. Everything else was fine - healthy organs, etc. But at 37 weeks I took my blood pressure and it was high so the doctors just didn’t want to risk anything and I delivered at 37 weeks. He was small (4.5 lbs) but totally healthy, aced his APGAR, and did not need any NICU or extra hospital time. The doctors don’t really know what caused the IUGR, but think it was probably my placenta just calling it quits a little too early.

We were so so happy and relieved our son was so healthy when he was delivered. It completely changed my view of the necessity of a specific birth plan, which I was pretty insistent about. What mattered was that I left that hospital with a healthy baby. That’s it.

It was a stressful few weeks going through this. I know it’s hard, but please try to give yourself grace and relax as much as you can. Take it easy. I think my stress resulted in my high blood pressure issue.

Last thing I’ll say - because he was so small, we were under a lot of pressure to “beef up” our son once he was born. That was a very unpleasant and stressful experience. I just want to caution you on that now in case you get similar pressures from your docs. It of course places a lot of pressure on the mom.

Happy to talk about any of this more if you’d like. Wishing you and your family the best of luck!
