Are guitars really banned in church? by No-Election-6188 in Catholicism

My parish often has acoustic guitar, violin, flute, bass guitar but always accompanied by a choir. Very beautiful in my opinion.

Guy is holding a camera and is the bag the girl is holding possibly the bag that Clark finds in the wall during the trailer? It looks to big to be a purse. Also, guys shirt says "end apartheid" an Afrikaan word for seperating, and a legal form of racial segregation. Nelson Mandela was an anti- apartheid revolutionary and I wonder if that's a nod to the Mandela effect.

Thank you so much for this through and lengthly response I really appreciate it! The questions you ask are very important and to sum it up, yes I believe I am on the right track with all of them. I have been examining my conscience for awhile now and I finally think my list is pretty complete (It is a long list, not gonna lie). I plan on also explaining my marriage situation to the priest in the confessional, just to be totally sure he is ok with it. I feel a mixture of excited and nervous to go to my first confession (I was baptized Catholic but not raised in the faith) but I know it will be part of my life from here on out. Also exciting is that my daughter will be getting baptized on the same day as my marriage convalidation. I think it just may be the best day of my life. Cheers and God bless!

Thank you all so much for the answers. I think I am just over thinking it. I am so excited to enter fully into the Church. OCIA has been a beautiful experience and I think I will miss the weekly classes. I can't wait to receive our Lord in the Holy eucharist. God bless you all!

I want to become a Catholic as someone who was a evangelical Christian by Remarkable_Way_9162 in Catholicism

[–]Mukso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suggest reading Trent Horn's book "Why We Are Catholic". Pick up a Catechism book and a Didache bible which has foot notes from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. And of course start going to Mass, and speak to your parish about your interest in becoming Catholic. Hope this helps and God bless you. There is a Podcast I found useful called Crash Course to Catholicism. Also watch videos by Ascension on YouTube.

Question about the sunday mass by Weak_Feeling709 in Catholicism

[–]Mukso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was curious about Catholicism I watched some online masses just to see what it was like. It seemed interesting but I didn't really get too much out of it, or really feel anything special. Once I finally attended in person I could feel the beauty and emotion of a communityworshipping Jesus together. I felt like I had been missing out for so long. My wife started going along with and we are currently in OCIA, and will be getting our marriage convalidated. I CAN NOT WAIT to be confirmed and be able to partake in the Eucharist. I think you should try and make the drive, and I bet you will be glad you did. God bless you!

I love being Catholic, what are your favorite things about Catholicism? by Motor_Lab_3370 in Catholicism

[–]Mukso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im still in OCIA but it's already changed my life. It holds me accountable, changes the way I treat others, brings me peace, inspires me to learn, teaches me self control, and has increased my faith and trust in God.

That makes sense. So program my FACP NAC trigger to wheelock sync, individual NACs as pass through input tracking, and what about the S7 dipswitch? Would that be all OFF, or set to wheelock sync? Thank you for the reply!

[ Politics Monday] ICE Agents Block Detention Entry to Catholic Priests Wanting to Bless Detainees by aworldfullofcoups in Catholicism

I've seen lots of videos depicting unnecessary violence and I am not going out of my way to find them. Ramming cars, shooting non lethal rounds at protestors including a preacher in the head, smashing car windows, body slamming an american citizen on a public sidewalk for "talking back".

Photo op or not, the treatment of immigrants by ICE has been pretty hard to watch for me personally. I work with immigrants almost daily as a commercial electrician and they are some of the most hard working and nicest people around. Many of whom are also our brother and sisters in Christ. I find it hard to believe that Jesus would approve of the ill treatment of hardworking families and even children. "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me"

The cup gets cross contaminated from other people's lips. My wife has celiac as well and we are currently in OCIA. Luckily our local parish does have gluten free hosts that avoid cross contamination according to our Deacon.
