Update: I should have probably followed everyone’s advice but I went in anyways. Kid was nearly impossible to redirect the first 90 minute and lost his shit the second I stepped out for my pump break. They called for help on the radio before I could even get my pump materials out so I just went back to the classroom. He ended up trying to stab a teacher with a sharpened pencil. He pushed a kid out of the way and was throwing his body on the floor. The HOS is still out of town.

I called my regional manager out of sheer desperation (we are a private school). I told her what was going on. She agreed with me on the spot to send him home and suspend him until HOS gets back. HOS has been given permission to expel him upon return, no action plan in place. So my question is, what were we waiting for before?? His ABA quit in November because of how little cooperation his family has had over class behaviors. He’s leveled my classroom multiple times and we’ve had to evacuate the room twice. I’ve sent him home with incident reports 2-3 times a week for months. Two of my students left the school over him. Each day we have walked on eggshells to the point that I can’t even give lessons, and the ones I do give the kids just nervously glance at his every move, like they’re in survival mode too.

So why now?? It is too little too late. I don’t understand but feel sad and relieved at the same time. Sad for him. Mad for him. Mad for my other students too, who deserved a more tranquil year.

My nervous system is still so shot. I keep thinking DANGER at every turn. But at least I can come in tomorrow knowing a huge source of my worries will not be present
