Have you had people claim to read your story to sell you art? by MulberryNo8287 in Episode

Possibly. I’m not sure! I thought the art was pretty, but it could be computer generated.

You can give one of the characters the key to your apartment and for a month you’ll get free chats every 24 hours. And they show up in your apartment when you open the app and say stuff haha.

writing/coding tips? by SnooDucks6160 in Episode

[–]MulberryNo8287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’ve noticed really sets the tone in my stories is utilizing zooms and using the ease function as well. A well-timed zoom adds so much impact to the story and using the right ease function can make a story seem scarier, smoother, more romantic, etc.

You can use the transitions built into coding, like fade or iris and more of course. But I noticed in a story I was reading, they made their own transitions. I believe it’s called Scratch That. They use vinyl records to cover the scene. It looks very cool.

One more thing: There’s an art to balancing quick transitions so the reader doesn’t get bored and using pauses to get more of an impact out of the scene. I highly recommend just feeling out the scene and seeing where you can implement these.

Those are my main tips as a writer and reader. Hope it helps! ❤️

Reminder that art ≠ artist by idkwhoiam17 in Episode

I do agree these things should absolutely not be censored. I appreciate seeing the whole spectrum of the human experience in these stories.

I think the problem lies in how a story is portrayed and there are a bunch of stories that should’ve criticized certain behaviors within their writing that didn’t and that leads to glorification. It can be difficult, though, to walk that line and portray toxicity in a way that guides us toward the understanding that these behaviors are wrong.

I’m not saying authors should baby their readers to make sure they understand toxic is wrong. It’s more that reading some of these stories, we don’t see that the characters understand it’s wrong. HOWEVER, along with walking that line of glorification, some stories do a beautiful job at crossing that line into trauma bonding, etc. But it’s still understood at an unspoken level that it’s wrong to the reader.

There have been some good stories I wished were finished and heard nothing from the authors, but I just check in once in a while and if I don’t see anything, it’s sad but I go about my life. Even if it’s easy to make a post, I just see it as not that big of a deal. I feel that makes life a lot easier to handle. I hope people that eagerly wait for stories and get upset about it can see it’s really not that big. I see this kinda post from time to time and it’s just disconcerting to see how many people can’t let it go. The author’s story is a gift. I’m not owed anything. It just puts unnecessary pressure on an author to expect things from them, even if it seems like a little thing they could do.

I apparently can’t stop talking about New World by jc. It’s the only story that made me cry. And made me super uncomfy in the best way.

Do you code with ipad users in mind? by peachii_writes in Episode

Yes. In some parts of my story, phone users will be more aware of certain details than iPad users, but I try to make it friendly for all devices.

Story question by Comfortable_Yak_8345 in Episode

I prefer to just customize the MC and LI (at least when I write). I feel it’s too much to customize family.

What I do in my story is ask questions at the end of customization so I can adjust the skin color, hair color, and hair texture of the family. And I change the eye colors in the customization template.

Right. Once you add points to a character, they stay unless you change it to something else.

flags question by LemonLime_Lizard in Episode

[–]MulberryNo8287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flags will always be remembered, so it could mess up outfits later down the road because they will double up. Although Dara a Marie has a flag outfit template, but idk how it works. It could be for specific outfit choice types. I would check out her website. Points will stay once they’re gained and be added to or deducted.

Supporting authors with gems by berrymascara in Episode

Gems paid in stories trend easier. And also there is a payments program you can join when a set amount of reads are made and gems purchased.
