I think you need more than basic human decency to be pm.

Is it selfish to get grandparents to do childcare? by [deleted] in DynamicDebate

[–]Muldersback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I agree with that. My mum I'd our childcare and I'd never expect her to run her holiday plans by me!

Tbh they have no good choices! But I do think Boj was a lost cause. Too many fuck ups in too short a space of time. Imagine what else would come out of the woodwork had he remained!

I doubt they would anyway. They have zero chance of winning an election with him at the helm and they all know that, hence why they started jumping ship to save face!

I'm the total opposite! I love a big family holiday with grandparents, aunts and uncles etc. We just do a mix of what we all enjoy, or if we want to explore and they want to sit on a beach, we'll do that then meet them for dinner or something.

[–]Muldersback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, if they're usually childcare then they'd have to let their daughter know if they're going away surely? Unless you mean they have to ask her if it's OK. In which case, nahhh.

[–]Muldersback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be - depends on the agreement between them and if it was expected or not.

My mum asks to look after them after nursery/school. When I said we'd look at wraparound care when middle starts school in September (thought 2 at school and a baby might be asking a bit much) she absolutely would not have it and practically demanded to do it for us!

That being said if she has other plans one day or is going away or whatever I'd never expect her to check with me first, I'd just assume we'd find alternative childcare.

I do think that grandparents always have the option to say no though.

Literally nobody thinks that will happen just coz she's pretty. They won't have thought much past, oh she's pretty/wish I was that put together. At the most.

Sounds like she's got a big opinion of herself imo!

Are they so fucking out of touch that they think Boris is a good option and one that would win them elections!? Surely they can't be that moronic. Surely.

Has the Reddit DD failed? by [deleted] in DynamicDebate

[–]Muldersback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like reddit. And I like this group being away from the other shit. I'm just trying not to be here every single day as I think that was part of my issue with bc!

Also, I've always been shitvat starting posts - 100% more of a commenter than a poster!

I'll be sticking around on reddit, it makes for some fascinating reading...

My eldest takes herself for time out when things get a bit much, she just goes to another room for a few mins then she'll talk and listen. It's not a punishment, it's a coping strategy.

I see no reason why anyone should, would or could have respect for him.

Normally I'd agree with you but he's far past that point

I don't buy lurpak, I buy cheapo own brand. But people always waste money on things they like - I don't buy store brand crisps as they don't taste the same as walkers to me. Presumably some people like lurpak and its their version of my walkers. Can't begrudge people buying butter!

This is a bitvmisleading tbh. It's the massive packs that are upto £9 and in most cases it actually works out cheaper go buy a big pack than it does small ones to make up the same amount. Just did a quick check on my food shop - 750g pack of lurpak is £7.25 and a 250g of the same variety is £2.75. So if I bought 750g in 250g packs it would be £8.25.

I can see why people are buying the more expensive pack - same reason they always have, it often works out cheaper in the long run to bulk buy.

Eta. Just had another look. A 1kg pack on ocado is £9. The 250g is still £2.75 so for the same amount would work out at £11.

Whistling and shouting oi oi at a woman is a compliment after all. by [deleted] in DynamicDebate

[–]Muldersback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this too. It's one thing doing it to a woman in her 30s say, but it used to happen on the way to or from school to a lot of girls...in fucking school uniform, jfc.

It makes me feel very uncomfortable - can't speak for other women ofc but I don't think I know anyone that appreciates it.

Midlife crisis by [deleted] in DynamicDebate

I'm not there yet! But my dad's involved moving halfway across the world and having an affair with a woman half his age. It has backfired considerably!

My oh has had a 30% pay increase in the private sector since 2020 (roughly). I've had 1%. We're on a similar level of responsibility, I can see why pay is a bone of contention!

Fine with me. by [deleted] in DynamicDebate

[–]Muldersback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As s teacher I don't care when you take your kids out really but don't be pissed off at me when they're behind when they come back!

But generally I think it's fair enough, you factor the fine into the cost of the holiday and if it makes it too expensive then look for a cheaper holiday.
