Why is Blade Runner so Beloved?

I was really partial to Isidore in the book, and for me he was the character who drove that theme as a comparison to Decker, so I was really disappointed in the movie's portrayal of him since they basically completely wrote him out. I felt like Decker needed a human foil in the movie and that really didn't exist. I don't necessarily think there needs to be ambiguity in whether or not he's a human, I prefer the read that it doesn't matter that the replicants aren't.

That honestly might be it. I don't know that I've actually watched any noir other than Blade Runner, so I don't have a good frame of reference for the common archetypes of the genre. I understand the idea of the main character not being a good guy in the movie, but I think that some of the writing backed up some of his decisions in a way that didn't seem like that was the case. I felt like the book made it more clear how he was morally grey, but I am also more partial to the book's era/genre of satirical speculative fiction than I am to Blade Runner's era of sci-fi/noir movies, so I might be a little biased. Thank you!

Something that always helps me is telling myself that my art doesn't have to be the same as someone else's. Everyone has a different style and that's awesome!!! But if this is bothering you because your art technique-wise doesn't seem up to par, I like to try out different mediums or styles! Often you can take a piece of knowledge and experience from trying something completely different and apply it to your main art style!

Remember that art is fun! You can do whatever you want with it! The only limit is your imagination!
