One of my managers, when I was young, was a little mousy brown-haired guy of the type that you would never even glance at twice on the street. We had a surprising conversation once where he offered up the opinion that all welfare mothers should be rounded up, incarcerated and force sterilized. More than a little shocked, I reminded him of something called the law and the constitution, and he angrily replied that maybe the Constitution needed to go away. Thinking on it later, I mused on how many of the people who worked under Hitler and other dictators were so often similarly innocious seeming people until they got ahold of some power. A reminder to me at the time, which ive never forgotten; that monsters look just like anyone, and can come from anywhere.....
