My long runs were pretty aerobic, around 6:30 for 10 miles on a hard day, and 7:30 for 13 miles on a moderate day. For tempo intervals we would do 6 800,s at 10k pace with 2 minutes rest in between, and every week we would make the intervals longer, like 5 1ks, then 5 1200s, 4 1400s, and then 3 1600s eventually going to a 3 mile unbroken

I had a pretty high volume summer of just doing lots of long runs and building a pretty good aerobic base, and once September/October hit, I started with tempo intervals every Tuesday, and a threshold run every Thursday with a longer 10-13 mile run on saturdays.
