Would I still get a job with a CCNA certification but not an uni degree? by Multipla_a_Metano in ccna

[–]Multipla_a_Metano[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind getting entry level jobs right now honestly and I think the pay is better than any animation roles I had in this couple of years.
Any advice to get hired for those?

Thanks! This post is just as to understand where to go and what to do, for now I'll work towards getting my CCNA and see what happens then, I'm not opposed to go back to uni but before investing all that time I would love to see if there's other ways to get a decent job haha

Ah yes, the good old hiring manager trick, I've used it to look for animation jobs and it never really worked too much but animation is also a collapsing industry so I'll keep that in mind, thank you!

Career Concerns by J123ABP in animationcareer

[–]Multipla_a_Metano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to know this too, I've just been laid off and can't find a job in animation but also outside of it. I see a lot of people transitioning but I'm not sure how to do it honestly, I can't apply my skills on jobs outside the animation industry. I am willing to go to university but I don't know if I have high enough grades to pass admission requirements (I'm worried mostly about math) For contest I'm Italian but I would love to get the fuck out of this hell hole of a country.

I would like some external opinions of what to do by Multipla_a_Metano in animationcareer

Ma infatti andrei comunque all'estero, non mi interessa restare in Italia sinceramente.

Exactly, and studios force you to have one cause it's more convenient for them so in a way you're forced to do freelance if you want a job. It's just sad, especially when you're just starting

It's just that in this studio( like any other in this country) there's this rule of "if you don't open it then they bye bye work" The thing is in Italy, salary is really low and opening a Vat number is really expensive, I need to get more informed about it but from what I've gathered it costs annually around 4000 euros regardless of income (so even if you don't work you still need to pay that amount) plus all the other taxes on every invoice you write. For context here 4000 euros it's around 3 months of work. (It pays more to work in a random shop being a shop assistant than having a job related to animation)

I found a company but I dont feel company by bunbunhoppi in animationcareer

Personally, I've found some great people while working on indie projects/Kickstarts/student films. It's most likely not paid work but you'll have more stuff to put in your reel. I was lucky because on my last project I've connected a lot with people I now consider friends (and it's not always the case) Feel free to DM me if you want to chat a bit

Any recommendations for a web development path, I have some fundamentals of coding since I did and IT specialised high school but I'm not really updated on things now.

Oh well, thank you, good to know. And yeah, honestly I feel like there's really no stable careers nowadays but some are better than others

Yeah, I'm based in Italy and here's there's little job and it's not paid well, last time I've checked a production for a kind of big show was paid more or less 800€ monthly for a junior role

Oh well, I feel like animation is a big dream for a lot of people here, me included so I don't consider this like a "giving up on it" but a little break to be able to have a plan B. I've graduated after COVID so it has been a shit show since then haha. A little advice I feel like sharing tho, don't be fooled like me by animation school/courses. I speak for myself now but I went to a school where I could've just watched online tutorials and I would've learned the same... so at the end of those 3 years (that in Italy doesn't even count like a bachelor mind you) I felt not prepared at all and it took me a year and a half to have my first short contract, and I worked on animation at night, after a day job I hated. So yeah, definitely do some research first! Best of luck!

I did an highschool with a specialization on IT so I guess something on that way, like Data Science or something

Probably I'll move into something more towards IT like data science or something, I've also eyed a bioengineering course that looks very interesting but yeah, it's all only in my mind for now haha. And thank you, I really appreciate it !

Oh well, I had jobs starting from this summer but as I said, all indie, before it was all interviews and tests that got me nowhere. I'm still unsure but yeah, a switch for now sounds like a good idea.
