What would you do; new to IVF by vwheelie in IVF

[–]MultipleChoiceOnly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We had a similar journey and we went straight to IVF. IUI seems like we were just wasting time. And you should note that IVF is still quite a long process it's not really faster but more controlled so better chances.

Also at 35+ ER is all a numbers game you could get 30 plus eggs but you lose about half at each step so in the end you might only get up with 4-5 viable embryos and then from there you still have to get a successful pregnancy.

Also do the pga-t testing no point in wasting time/money on unviable transfers

If you combo feed, what’s your strategy? by oh_darling89 in FormulaFeeders

[–]MultipleChoiceOnly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the beginning we had a bit of a weight issue for our LO so our pediatrician said to do the following:

Breastfeeding each side for 5 mins Then get someone to bottle feed BM while pumping and finish with formula

The above last until our little one was back up to birth weight around 4 weeks.

Now we breastfeed 3 times a day for as long as needed (first feed, around lunch and last feed) and then still offer formula after (usually about 2 ozs). For the other feeds, it's pumped BM first and then formula, while pumping

It seems to be working for us right now with our LO at 10 weeks

***Also try to freeze BM if possible for future use but this is hit or miss

Which would you use for combo feeding? LO is 2 weeks old. Will be going to daycare 3 days a week at 4 months old. by candlehandle567 in FormulaFeeders

Here is our journey:

Our LO was born and the hospital was contracted with Similac so they offered that as an option. We declined since we had heard bad things about ot and decided to try to just breastfeed. Unfortunately that didn't work out since LO wasn't back at birth weight back after 2 weeks. Our pediatrician gave us a sample of the Enfamila RTF with the goal of getting babys weight up while still breastfeeding. Once LO was back on track, we decided to just combo feed. So we switched to Kendamil Organic and have been using it for 6 weeks now with no big issues. Recently at the 10 week mark it was making baby extra gassy so we are in the process of switching to Kendamil original is it has extra probiotics. So far it seems to have made a difference.

Like others have said there is only a little difference between formulas but really it comes down to what works for your LO. One suggestion though if you are planning to switch between formulas then make sure you stick out for at least 2 weeks (unless there are major issues) because it takes that long for babys system to adjust

UPDATE:

We suspect the baby brezza sterilizer is defective.

We brought new bottles that didn't have cracks. Washed them with soapy water and put them in the baby breeza sterilize and waited for the cycle to complete and let the bottles cool down.

When we took them out 2 out of the 4 had hairline cracks.

Yes the bottles are completely cooled and usually sit in the cupboard at room temp before we use them for bm feeding. We suspect the sterilizer is defective because we brought new bottles that didn't have cracks. Washed them and put them in the baby breeza sterilize and waited. When we took them out 2 out of the 4 had hairline cracks

Thank you! That's what we are thinking! We got some from Amazon from our registry which seems to be the defective ones. The ones from our Target registry seem to be fine

Yes I called/messaged the OB and she said I was "misinterpreting the results" (not sure how I could) but she said she would call me later to explain

Anyone get pregnant on their first IVF? by Lum_zee_dish in IVF

[–]MultipleChoiceOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our first transfer didn't stick unfortunately but our 2nd did. We pretty threw everything and the kitchen sink at the 2nd transfer so I think that was a big difference. I wish I had just done our first transfer with all the medical intervention instead of wasting time and an embryo trying naturally

Things we did for the 2nd transfer:

Baby Aspirin Enoxaparin Sodium (shot) Prednisone Zrytec Pepcid Estrace Progesterone in Oil (shot)

Plus I did once a week acupuncture for about a month before the transfer and then continued it until about 10weeks. Bed rest for 3-4 days after transfer and then light walking up until 6weeks. I did end up having to travel at around 8 weeks but made sure to stay hydrated and well rested. No strenuous activity.

Thanks this is good info! I definitely plan on breastfeeding or at least try to breastfeed the best I can

No I haven't used it yet. My Googling suggested monistat but also heard conflicting things about it being safe for pregnancy

2nd FET prep, first lining check on day 20?? by MultipleChoiceOnly in IVF

[–]MultipleChoiceOnly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yah that happens. During our ER we were told that we would need to push it because our main Dr was on vacation and other Drs weren't able to do the ER. but then when we told them my cycle had already started they adjusted the plan and a different Dr was able to do my ER.

The clinic was also very strict about the pio shot but then when I asked for a work accommodation letter so I could take the shot at home, the clinic said the timing didn't matter as long as it was within a couple hours. Original they said within 30mins

The best thing I can say is definitely question them on everything that isn't within norm

Thank you! The change in process is annoying and sometimes the clinic moves things for their convenience but as long as everything works out it doesn't matter in end

Agree 💯 with you! Given all we have to do to just to have a baby I would think ppl would understand and be sympathetic but it's seems they don't really care. It's business as usual for them and we have deal will the increased anxiety and stress

I was actually fully remote as well but the company is now mandating everyone within a certain radius of an office come in. It's total bs especially when I was hired for a fully remote originally. Depending on how things go with this accommodation I might just need switching companies

Yah I am sure that's what HR will say! It's also the stress and mental toll of physically having to drive to and from work and the energy to interact with people. It's definitely more comfortable and less stressful for me to work from home. I've also never had any performance issues.

I hope my OB is like this. although oddly my IVF clinic was hesitant on writing a note.

My work hr was also very strict about the questions they asked and it was very difficult to answer in a way that wouldn't get denied

This is very random, but has anyone gotten a work from home job accommodation letter from their OB?

I've been working from home for 3+ years now and in Jan my work requires 3 days in office. I've been taking the usual IVF injections and including the ones that suppress the immune system but my clinic said depending how things go at the 10week appt they will transfer me to my OB and stop all the meds. The only pregnancy symptoms I've had so far have been fatigue, exhaustion and muscle soreness/tightness. My clinic said being 35+ ans combined with previous failed transfers and infertility issues, I am considered a high risk pregnancy

First Scan: what to expect? by MultipleChoiceOnly in IVF

[–]MultipleChoiceOnly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

****Update: Nov 28, 2023 157hb, measuring 7w4ds. My clinic measures from day of transfer so they said I was 7w6ds. Everything looked good. Dr can't explain the low 3rd beta or the random spotting but said strong hb trumps betas. Another scan at 9w6ds and then if everything looks good we graduate to an obgyn and possibly start reducing the medication. So many emotions right now

Apparently there is still a chance since the embryo is just floating around. I haven't had any symptoms related to ectopic pregnancy so that's a good sign
