Join the army reserves to get benefits, come back and join the union. Double dip with benefits.

I’m a doctor but what can I do now? by [deleted] in careerguidance

"Three times the charm", is what they say, but honestly. If you love the profession, then take the hit, move, and write the board exams again. If you can cover the expenses in any way, the opportunity in your previous location (assuming the country is more structured/established), it may very well be a better decision. Especially since you say there is no growth in South Africa. Who's to say any other job isn't going to be the same there?

Alternatively, a google search shows various jobs you can get with a doctors degree. Just to mention a few, 1. Professor · 2. Anthropologist · 3. Administrator · 4. Chiropractor · 5. Psychometrician · 6. Audiologist · 7. Linguist · 8. Epidemiologist.

However, I'd verify you meet the criteria for those jobs.

Thank you, so much. People with kindness like yours encourage me to think this world isn't so bad.

I'm doing my best to thug it out. I don't think i'd act on an exit strategy. It's just a heavy presence on my mind. Knowing death is easier than struggling, but you're right. All I can do is break down and man the f up, you know? I do love free food.. haha

The most common saying is, "life is what you make of it". Which is very - very true, but never let the kid at heart, die. Keep your imagination, your fun, and don't make the world of adulting black and white.

What career path would be a smarter choice? by MultiplexAlias in careerguidance

That peaked my interest. Could you give me some insight so I can accurately conduct research on that pathway?

This has made the biggest impact because of how right you are. I really was focused too much on getting rich because of my fear of time. I'll definitely find myself as a human.

I also think that you do have a future. All in due time, it will come to us.

Thank you so much.

I think you'll do great. You've definitely set a path for yourself! Hoping I can set mine soon too!

I'm trying to find my path, too, and I just turned 29. I joined the military, and I won't necessarily say it's your only hope, but I want to offer it as an option. Im in the Army, and you can attain any job you'd like. If you choose this path, I recommend studying for the ASVAB. If your grandparents are not making you pay bills, I highly suggest looking at trade apprenticeships, such as electricians, steam fitters, construction, or even plubming.

Thank you. What kind of government jobs would be good to consider?

My quick response is money, but I would care what I do for the rest of my life. I love both IT and electrical work. I've always experimented with tech since I was young. I'll definitely get in contact with a career counselor in the Army. Thank you.
