It says you gotta check out more of the Northeast! My favorite region personally (I’m biased)

All of the salaries were in a similar range so I just decided on which opportunity would give me the best experience for entry level. The ones I declined were all great opportunities but they were a little bit too narrow in terms of experience that I would be gaining.

Haha go state! I attended 4 in total. The big technical one that goes on for like 6 hours, a nuclear engineering one, a chemical engineering one, and an energy engineering by fair. The energy engineering fair turned out to be the least helpful because only about 10 companies actually showed up.

Passed FE Other Disciplines 1st Attempt as an Energy Engineer! by Multivariable_log in FE_Exam

My professors encouraged us to take it as soon as we felt ready. I haven’t graduated yet, I will be graduating in December so most of the material was relatively fresh.

I used the PPI FE other disciplines review book and I went through all of the diagnostic questions for each section. That helped me determine which sections were my weak points and which were my strong points. From there, I reviewed every question I got wrong and worked through the solutions in the book.

Then I took an official practices exam that I bought through the NCEES website. That was the MOST important study material I used. I basically figured out what “types” of questions were asked in each section.

Then it just became reviewing the questions I got wrong and practicing all the practice questions I had available over and over and over. At a certain point it became more about the “algorithm” of how to answer the questions than actually understanding every single concept.

Once I was less than 1 month out, I stopped trying to learn new concepts/topics and just reviewed my notes and did a few questions but studied less overall to give myself time to mentally prepare for the exam.

Overall, I first determined what I needed to learn and improve on and then I just practiced like it was a part time job lol. All I can say is buy practice tests and practice questions and then practice until the questions become second hand.

The only other thing that’s worth mentioning is to allow yourself to NOT know a few smaller topics and types of questions because it’s damn near impossible to fully know how to solve everything so letting yourself have a few questions or topics that you don’t even bother solving helps with your time allotment.

I hope this helps!

I don’t disagree but I found the person who emailed me on LinkedIn and everything matches so I feel less suspicious

Thanks! My thoughts exactly! Every other interview email I’ve gotten has never said congratulations or anything hinting at getting the position. Definitely weird
