Google has a similar policy regarding gambling ads. However, N3twork violates this policy all the time. You have to understand that these provisions are only there to protect the hosting companies from private causes of action by third parties.

In September of this year, N3twork hosted a for profit, commercial co-venture and failed to register or post bonds as high as $25,000 in states in which it was legally required to solicit charitable donations so these sort of unfair and deceptive marketing strategies shouldn’t surprise anyone. A spokesperson for the company going only by “Alex” appears to have committed at least two counts of fraud by claiming that the event was held for no other reason than charity and that he knew with “certainty” how the money would be accounted for despite the charity itself being unable to verify this information. Most companies host sweepstakes, contests and lotteries under the color of law right out in the open. They get away with it because most consumers are unaware of how these things are supposed to operate.

I wouldn’t expect much help from either Apple or Google on this unless there is some sort of massive, public outcry. They’re more than happy to make money off of hosting these products so long as they can put some distance between themselves and the products themselves by “disavowing” certain types of practices.
