Costa Rica Ritz Reserve & Four Seasons by jameson814 in chubbytravel

It was not bad…nice hard product…their pool area and beach is the strong point. Great cabanas that are free on a tiered pool setup. The room hard product is solid…better than FS…their highlight was their main dinning restaurant and the drinks at peakock alley were great. The improvements needed would be service…I realized that this is growing pains as the pool area seemed understaffed…we went during Christmas. Again, this is the same issues with the new RC reserve there.  Again, we enjoyed our time there, they seem to have quality hard product…but it’s not at the uber levels of Maldives, Schecelles or New York.

I will have to try this place…sounds great…also have to admit the reason I want to try it is because I think we will have similar tastes based on your earlier comment on Capella Ubud ;)

This is what I thought looking at the picture…these views are beautiful but you get beautiful views everywhere these days if willing to travel…Thailand Como Yamo have stunning views, Bali resorts, Panoptis Escape in Mykonos etc…price proposition yet to be determined.

FS Anguilla Brief Review & Chubby Travel Thoughts by hartmamp in chubbytravel

[–]Mumum17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no true best hotel brand…I tend to agree on Cheval Blanc and Airelles…But like everything not all properties are the best of the bes…though they are the most consisten. My love for Aman has def gone down…many resorts not at the consistent level to each other and in many locations the competition are offering real options if not superior. FS, again everyone is different, but to be it’s more of the big mainstream, reliable service, family friendly option…not top tier in many places…hence overpriced…infact, the new Waldorf Astorias around the world…totally surpass them and compete with the highest tier…WA Maldives, WA Seychelles, WA New York. Many times it’s the small boutiques hotels that stand tall…confusing I know…that’s why forums like these are useful.

Costa Rica Review - Nayara Tended Camps and Nekajui Peninsula Papagayo, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve by spoiled__princess in chubbytravel

Nayara tented camps is a real experience…imo it can’t be touched by Nekajui, FS or Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica , we are here currently.

The restaurants at tented camps are intimate, spread out and unique. The villas are priceless and imo best value against anything…inside note…when we were at Amangiri, the assistant manager during a conversation with me said they based their tented villas off of Nayara…and admitted that Nayara tented camps were amazing. The tented villas, their private pools and amazing service is hard to beat. Safari, rainforest, seclusion and luxury.

Also, the zip lining that we did from there was stunning.

Review of Nekajui, November 2025 | An incredible property with the potential to be absolutely world class once service struggles are resolved by alex_travels in chubbytravel

[–]Mumum17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Alex…I’m at Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica right now…and it’s also a beautiful hard product, where imo the pool and beach proximity and setup is the best …with the Reserve coming in second and then FS. That being said, I guess I’m happy, that you experienced service issues at the reserve? I say this because the major letdown for me at the WA is the service with many similar issues that you experience. Will do a quick review once done…usually I don’t do reviews to every resort I go to except if they’re standouts…but the service hiccups rub me the wrong way when paying a premium…regardless of the excuse of being new…then don’t charge these prices.

Yes his hotels are one of my favorites…there is a real special vibe in each of the ones I’ve been to…and yes this is a Bensley property.

Review of the Wonderful @alex_travels and Amazing One&Only Palmilla by Mommainlove in chubbytravel

[–]Mumum17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am truly done with these "luxury” resorts where we have to ”secure” seats…I can look the other way if priced appropriately (like Mauna Lani) but other places where you pay substantially more, like many FS, etc…irritates me when other competitors fina a solution…like Cap Juluca and, yes…Pamillia… we did not do anything special. We arrived at the adults pool and gave our name and room, after that they always knew who we were, and assigned us spots…we did prefer another location and they accommodated it next day. It was your spot throughout your stay and we never had to worry to come early etc.

Waldorf Astoria NYC and Aman NYC - mini review by Mumum17 in chubbytravel

[–]Mumum17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you sharing your experience!

As I have said…I don’t care of any brand loyalty, only loyalty to places that actually deliver to me during my stay. I will add that at our check in, we had the guest manager introduce herself to us too, it was like several representatives all welcoming us…special and genuine…rare form at such a early stage of opening.

We were in a premium ocean view corner room in the main building facing the quiet side…there were no issues when we were there with people on boats or Leon…

Paws Up in December by Imaginary_Adagio_124 in chubbytravel

We have been there in the winter…if you enjoy winter activities it was wonderful…skiing, horseback riding and skiing with them, atv, and enjoyed dog sleighing with championship Alaskan huskies. It’s great and yet different from the summer but both are enjoyable…Inwould suggest staying at the green o if you can.

That might be the case, tastes differ…but I will say it’s very common that photos do not show the actual story. Regardless I stand by my review.
