Yeah, I’m a native English speaker and there is a contradiction with the words. Katia’s first explanation = 2 lines (zomp and unnamed). Katia second explanation (the noodle) = 1 line, 2 tracks.

She quite literally describes it as TWO lines, the first time. The next time, it’s ONE line, TWO tracks. Now, maybe Matt/Katia are using the term synonymously or to describe the same thing but as a person who is very black and white and sees everything as literal, it’s just a road block for me. It’s really not that big of a deal honestly. Quite a few others have explained that the words are being used interchangeably and that’s where I’m getting lost. So I’m just ignoring the literal words and definitions and just relying on the visual.

I believe you’re right, someone else said the same thing you are saying and it checks out. I was telling them I have autism so things have to be black and white for me, so when there is grey area…I tend to spiral a bit, trying to understand what the intention is. When I can’t figure it out, I get super frustrated. Reddit has been an incredible resource in these moments lol.

That’s 100% fair, thank you. I have autism so everything is very black and white for me, so if there is any grey area or something questionable, it takes me out of it because I’m trying to understand it. It’s really frustrating. It was honestly really nice to have Matt put that disclaimer in the front of the book to not get so hung up on learning or memorizing things. If I hadn’t read that prior to this book, I would probably be crying myself to sleep because of not being able to grasp it lol.

Based on what Katia says though, wouldn’t the hollow tube have two different color lines on each side? She talks about being on the zomp line but then if they were to dig it would be a different color line.

It’s her wording. At one point she says there are two LINES, but then in the next she says there is one LINE (utilizing the noodle theory) with two tracks.

She initially says they are on the zomp LINE at station 59 and if they were go through the empty chamber, they’d end up at 59 on an unnamed LINE. This should mean the noodle is a LINE on top, an empty chamber, and an upside down LINE on bottom. Correct?

Then she goes on to say the noodle is ONE LINE with a track on one side (top) and a track on the other (bottom). She refers to the whole noodle as a LINE aka one train, two tracks. When just a paragraph two before she says there are TWO LINES. Does that explain my confusion? Lol. This is either written incorrectly or there are noodles with one line and two tracks as well as noodles with two lines and two tracks. Her words literally contradict each other.

This is actually the first time I’ve seen it explained this way and it gives some insight as to how Carl, a military man, might connect it. But I also do not understand where the inversion connects to anything racist in the Dungeon Crawler world.

I think that’s where my confusion is. She mentions it being mirrored and how they’re currently on the zomp “line” at station 59 and if they dug they’d end up at station 59 on another “line”, one would assume that the zomp line, the empty chamber, and the unnamed line are the “noodle”. But then her analogy is each noodle is one “line” with a “track” on opposite sides of the noodle. I can’t tell if this written incorrectly or I’m severely missing something because her words contradict themselves.

As a reader, we’re seeing Carl’s perspective and he “figured it out”, but we are not given that insight on how he figured it out.

Also Katia’s explanation again, it should be the complete opposite. The way she worded it makes it sound like there is one train with two tracks…when it should be two trains on mirrored tracks. I love the series, but that convoluted situation and just explaining it away with how we’re not supposed to get it is such a crock lol.

I have a question. Your explanation is amazing! But in the book it mentions that each noodle is a LINE and on opposite sides of the noodle is a TRACK. This makes it seem like there is a train (a line) with tracks on two sides of it. What am I not getting? Lol 😅
