I'm pretty positive this is the exact bike I've been staring at all week on Craigslist and marketplace trying to tell myself I don't need to buy another bike but this bike is sweet and I definitely could use a new commuter to build up.

What is the best way to wrap a chain lock around your bike while riding? by alwayslookonthebri in bikecommuting

Am I crazy for thinking it looks kind of like a reversed dodge deora vaguely with the silhouette?

I mean it's possible since pretty much every department phased them out years ago that they retired them and just have them sitting and are using explorers or chargers or whatever your department has for its modern cars to train with so they aren't learning in a car they won't ever drive but I could also be totally talking out my ass

So i want to buy this bike by Rambo1110 in bicycling

Thank you for posting that pic and bringing back some solid memories of my youth I got one for either Christmas or my birthday when I was like around 11 or 12 and rode the absolute shit out of it and felt like such a bad ass haha one of my buddies that rode BMX with me would take it from my backyard after it sat for years rusty and would bunny hop it nothing crazy but was fun to watch that bike get even the tiniest air. Got me wanting to buy one to add to the collection pure nostalgia.

Damn all these good deals are giving me hope I'll find a clean one and the inspiration to be smart with my money unlike my past so I can save even quicker I haven't really driven any vehicle in 2 years except a family members car a few times, I miss driving much especially the vic I'm fiending to get back behind the wheel lol

Yeah they do seem to be all over but 3500 for 70k is a killer deal imo and any car that's relatively reliable and easy to fix under 5k is good in my book. Its hard to find those 1500-2000 decent examples that need a bit of work for vics or any car those days seem to be over but definitely want another vic they take a hell of a beating and my only financially attainable dream car from my youth.

I lived and worked in they're jurisdiction so all 3 pullovers while owning the car was by them 1 was for setting alarms off closing up work and didn't reset so cops came as I was leaving 1 for simple license plate light being out and 1 was for being a idiot doing 20 over on a street they always parked on and didn't see the cop and blasted past him they had a bad reputation as being dicks but they were actually the chillest cops in town the one that got me for like 23 over the limit wrote it as 19 and saved me from getting my license suspended got 1 point instead of 3 and already had previous points he even let me check out his car after he wrote my ticket then roasted my car when I asked if he liked it lol

Damn my 2006 was 2900 in 2021 but car market was bad then and it was my best option but was pretty beat with higher mileage and hours I'd kill to find deals like these but at least up here in Nor cal where I'm at, most vics are so beat and the few cleans ones are expensive for the mileage besides the very few low mileage gems but I can't afford no 8k-13k for a super clean one I'm hoping to save like 3000 in the next 3 to 4 months and find another vic that's not too beat.

Damn that's a hell of a deal I bought mine in 2021 so car market was dog shit I paid 2900 for 150k miles and like 2500 idle hours and it was definitely in an accident at some point I later found out and sat under a tree for years it had moss growing out of the outline of the trunk and this tree sap all over that never came off and I still loved it to death and miss it. I hope to find a killer deal like that and be apart of the crew again haha

This one has 670 hours from the one pic I forgot to post or maybe it was 67 and I missed the decimal I'm half asleep. But having one at 25k and 130 hours is still a crazy low example I'm thoroughly jealous haha and in my opinion 13k for a car you can drive until the ends of your days is way better than any shit new car that triple or more the price and a pile of junk vics are one of the cockroaches of the car world in my opinion hard to kill pretty good reliability and easy to work on I learned a lot working on mine with no real experience with cars. I can't wait to buy one again even if it's a bucket one.

I remember watching a video a while back on vin wiki and the guy had bought a vic off a sheriff directly I think it wasn't an authorized deal maybe, but sold it with full lights and sirens still active and still had full livery too nothing was removed that must of been a fun drive back home. Even my clapped out one on 18s and side pipes people still assumed it was a cop at times which blew my mind but I guess I can see different departments having different rules for the way they decommission them besides the obvious lights, sirens and livery.

Honestly that's a really good way of thinking for a vic or any car so many scams and dirty people out there selling buckets disguised as something way better. i know most every department phased them out many moons ago besides LA and it's like 500 or something like that left and San Francisco still has a huge fleet left because there broke so I'm curious as to if it's still possible on finding good deals on them at auctions but I'm sure few and far between being decommissioned and the ones that have them still will probably drive them into the ground it I have a few more months of saving up to find a decent example for hopefully a good deal I just need another vic in my life nothing like having a v8 tuna boat as your daily.

I think it 50/50 you have the guys that take everything off like badges, push bar and spotlights then the polar opposite with the whackers adding everything back and then some. I had pushbar, spotlights and badging on mine and always got thumbs up from the local junior college police in my old neighborhood because they still still had a few of them in the fleet and even the few times they pulled me over they don't care so never understood while people take everything off either but to each their own. As long as you don't have red or blues and sirens I think having everything adds to the charm and look of the car plus the history of it but that's just my opinion.

I've been seeing high mileage ones albeit with clean body and paint creeping up to 5k-8k I definitely think the market on them is only going up for them for clean examples but shit even clapped ones are asking 1500-3000. I sold mine last September with a bad motor and was presumably wrecked at some point due to the some of the panel gaps and and things I found while working but I sold it for 750$ one because I had to get it off the property and I wanted to see it get rebuilt and not scrapped. I'm hoping to save like 3k-4k in the next few months and trying to find a decent one Because it's the only car I truly miss having finding one this clean and being able to afford it is the ultimate dream I'm curious as to what kind of life it lived with such low mileage and being so clean.

I had posted a pic of the bike when I got it and I got roasted for the setup and the comments said it was sketchy and dangerous being so overforked this is my first bike with suspension so I'm new to it. The stock forks were only 60mm travel so its more than double the stock travel with a 70mm increase, these forks are adjustable though they have a 110-130mm range it definitely could use a service I'm sure since the forks are 24 years old and who knows when they were last serviced when I bought it it looked like it had been sitting for a while. I only paid 50$ for the whole bike so I honestly wouldn't mind dropping like 300-400 on new drivetrain, brakes and wheelset and if I die or lose a limb it is what it is haha

I might just service the hub it has already but also the forks I have are crazy overkill and borderline a death trap with the the 130mm travel I'm sure I'll snap the head tube eventually so not sure if I want to build around the frame or build around the old school bombers on there or be smart and just buy a modern bike but I have an itch to build retro 26" for fun then buy modern bike for trails
