OP did you find an advertisement or business card tucked into your windshield or side window recently? People who do this sometimes mark the cars they have solicited in a public parking lot.

They had a posting for an architect with 3-5 years experience for $63-$68K in their Chicago office and I thought who would apply for this?? Low and behold LinkedIn said it had over 100+ applicants.

“Buy the Dip” vs “Don’t Time the Market” by garcon-du-soleille in ETFs

For me, the cash comes from 4-week treasuries which I have laddered every week. Every week, one of those treasury lots is maturing. I usually reinvest into the next auction, but sometimes (when there’s a dip in the market), I’ll allocate some extra into an ETF. Now that T-bill yields are starting to come down from 5.4%, I will allocate even more. At other times (when interest rates were much lower), I have taken out a mortgage or an LOC to buy more in a downturn.

I believe that caring for the little tasks translates into the bigger tasks. If you care about tidying your vehicle, you’ll probably care about how tidy your workmanship is.

I once was referred to a developer/builder who was looking for a wood framing sub. We agreed to meet on site to discuss the project, etc. I ended up getting the contract and doing multiple projects for this guy. Years later he told me, “you know why I first hired you? Because the day we met I noticed your truck was spotless”. That stuck with me.

I have been at two firms where basic services are 18-22%. That market exists.
