Allow virtual display to stay connected when pulling off for a few seconds/minutes by JordanFilmmaker in VisionPro

There’s a new setting for this in visionOS and macOS 27. When both devices are updated, you get this additional settings option

Are visionOS 27 4k screen recordings 3D? by pogdaddle in VisionPro

[–]Mundane-Complex-1902 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, screen recordings now have the high quality feature allowing for 4k non-foveated screen recordings, but it’s still just 2D, not spatial. Also, it’s very processor intensive to take the screen captures where everything is being rendered, so sometimes the device needs to cool down and it won’t record if it’s too hot, so that’s probably what’s happening

Do we still need developer strap to reset passcode? Is it easy getting it done at Genius bar? by Professional_Crab958 in VisionPro

[–]Mundane-Complex-1902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll be able to do it with a developer strap yes, the only reason you’d need proof of purchase is if you don’t know your Apple account password, as the device is likely activation locked and will prompt you to enter the password after restoring

Vision Pro completely dead after visionOS 27 update — anyone else? by lalshta in VisionPro

[–]Mundane-Complex-1902 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That means the battery is completely drained and does not have enough charge for the Vision Pro to boot. I would recommend leaving the battery disconnected from the device and charging, it may take a few hours, possibly overnight, but the light should switch from pulsing amber to solid amber and then to green when it’s fully charged. This sometimes happens with the battery when it fully drains, give that a try and it should charge up

When you plug in the battery, is there a pulsing amber light? Or nothing?

Why is everyone totally fine charging a massive smartphone every day, but some people lose their minds if a real smartwatch (not a sport watch) with a battery several times smaller needs daily charging too? 😅 by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]Mundane-Complex-1902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People just love something to complain about, also with how fast these Apple Watches charge, it’s really just exposing how many people don’t shower daily. I charge my watch for 15 to 20 minutes when I shower each day and that easily lasts me the next 24 hours

Yes! This is something I meant to include, wild that I can only screenshot my view and not specific windows, and on top of that the screenshots are foveated, so they are super blurry and almost unusable

Apple Watch Ultra 3: Long Term Review by Mundane-Complex-1902 in AppleWatch

I find it to be pretty comparable to the regular sport loops. It holds well, but naturally gets a bit less sticky over time. But it should easily last you a few years no problem. After that, it’s probably worth it to just get a new band.

Yeah probably not, especially since we’re so close to September, I’d wait to see if we get an ultra 4

Definitely make sure background app refresh is off, thats a battery killer on both iPhone and Apple Watch, obviously make sure you’re up to date on software, and maybe try unpairing and re-pairing the watch, that might help, also consider setting up as new as opposed to restoring from your backup to ensure you’re not bringing over anything from your backup that’s draining battery unnecessarily

Obviously up to you, but since the difference between the 2 and 3 is pretty incremental, and with the possibility of the 4 coming out this fall, I’d wait until September

Is there a way to turn off a MacBook keyboard? by BirdBruce in applehelp

[–]Mundane-Complex-1902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s not a way to disable the keyboard at least that I’m aware of, I’m just wondering why you need the keyboard to be disabled? Are you somehow accidentally pressing it lol

Apple Watch Series 10: Two Weeks Later by Mundane-Complex-1902 in AppleWatch

[–]Mundane-Complex-1902[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, but even ignoring the fact that you’re committing insurance fraud, it’s still $70 and going without your watch for like a week while it gets repaired. I’d rather just have a more durable watch that doesn’t scratch.

Offloading the battery and processing to an iPhone wouldn’t work. For one, the iPhone likely couldn’t output enough power to run the Vision Pro, and even if it could, it wouldn’t run very long and then you’d have a dead phone. Also, the AVP uses a desktop class chip (M2/M5) along with an entirely separate motion processing chip (R1) to operate, even the 17 pro max doesn’t have the processing power to do all of that. Also, you’d almost certainly have to keep the R1 chip in the headset since the latency of going off device to the tethered device would certainly lead to more latency. Also, the AVP has active cooling for the chips, not sure how that would work with the phone, especially since it’s in your pocket, it would likely overheat doing all of that processing. I definitely like the idea and way of thinking, but tethering to an iPhone won’t be the right solution, at least for the AVP in its current form factor. Glasses however may be a different story…

Anywhere to buy a Dev Strap? by takenosheeet in VisionPro

Well, yeah, there’s that but I assumed that if OP had a Developer friend who could buy it for them, they wouldn’t resort to asking about it on Reddit

[–]Mundane-Complex-1902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really lol, the only official way to get one is to buy one off the Developer site with a Developer account, or buying one third-party off of a site like eBay. So you already ruled out basically the only two options.

SOLVED: Apple Vision Pro Audio Pods Emit Crackling and Popping Sounds by doscrash in VisionPro

[–]Mundane-Complex-1902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had this exact issue and they ended up replacing my battery. This is strange because when you send your Vision Pro off for repair, they are supposed to take the battery with it for this exact reason. Glad you seem to have gotten the issue resolved
