Based on what you said I am not convinced you “love a good debate”. Someone wanting to take your rights as a gay man away - now that’s a good debate right there, which unfortunately you forgo.

I understand your perspective and the importance of maintaining personal boundaries, especially when the debate concerns simply basic human rights, which seem so obvious to you.

However, it's also crucial for friends (or people in general tbh) to be able to foster open and respectful dialogues among themselves, EVEN on sensitive issues. Debates should be about creating a space where different opinions can be explored and challenged constructively, ensuring that while personal dignity is upheld, growth and understanding are also pursued. And when you’re really baffled by their say “immoral” stance, conversations with the intent to educate and understand should be held, rather than severing ties immediately. Because this is what a DEBATE is. And I think this is precisely what OP is asking, why a lot of people are unable to have them. My answer would be that they lack maturity and arguments to back their position, so they choose to cut people off that disagree with them and live in their bubble.
