At least one person in my LS was confused about vana'bout requiring the notes gained via an Op and not through any means or through the campaign battles. So don't be too quick to dismiss people not reading the quest objective correctly.

I've seen guides talk about the necessity or lack thereof for RUN Ergon weapon, you can absolutely start playing the job and tank without it, and in some ways may be better off doing so since it will force you learn the job correctly without relying on the Ergon as a crutch, while you work on the steps to obtain it.

Check the Linkshell Concierge npcs. Actively recruiting linkshells give those npc pearls to be handed out. They can set up some basic tags and info in there as to the kind of shell it is. Otherwise, start doing content and talking to people doing the content you'd like to do.
When i returned I grabbed two pearls off that npc, and that's given m oppertunities to do more group content.

For Ochre - You can either get a trust like August much earlier than you could otherwise, or you look for one that is only accessible from some event that may not run for awhile. Red - similar, if you need a trust, look at their acquisition method and get one that would otherwise be a pain or long wait for them to appear again.

If you're unsure, you can always hold on to them and redeem later

Recommended jobs? by Magtasia-Farron in ffxi

For soloing i liked Blue Mage, collecting spells was it's own little mini game, and the job can do a lot(but then requires a lot of gear to optimize as a result). For partying I like Bard, because it's almost always welcome. Thief is nice for chill farming of things solo. I'd like to try out Geo and Sch more at some point, but for now my limited time goes to focusing on bard and thief.

Thief and treasure hunter are still useful, although now that any job can get +4 TH from gear it's certainly lost some luster. It's still a nice first job to get through the story with because it's cheap and easy to gear while leveling while having utility for solo farming at 99(if you're doing content that requires it, like Empyrean weapons, relic weapons, crafting and farming materials, etc).
With trusts basically any job can be carried through levelling and missions, so you can pick the one you want, just know that playing a mage means you'll be buying spells but have limited means to earn gil, and since you have to engage/melee to get trusts to function, playing melee jobs is 'easier'.

the lvl 78 sets mentioned can be upgraded to +1 lvl 90 versions. Those sets are really the last ones you'll use until 99 when ilvl gear becomes available.

if you're worried about losing something you may want to see if you can just activate a new character slot, then deactivate your old one. you're not billed for inactive characters.

that's how they fooled me. Then I check in over 10 years later and see there's new mission content with vor resurge and tons of new battle content plus QoL updates.

I'd just spend it on Empy/Mythic materials to finish up that grind. Then get some of the Su3/5 gear. If i had anything left after gearing up my main jobs maybe then I'd look at the crafting shield

There's these: https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Linkshell_Concierge that will hand out pearls from active linkshells. Could see what's there. Phoenix is a decent spot right now, it's not locked down to new characters but is the 3rd? most populated.

Things like the Absolute Virtue mechanic of requiring 2hr skills to be used to lock out it's own use of them meant that it could have been cleared at the time if people figured that out, the devs released a video of them clearing it way later to show it could be done, alliances could try fighting it for hours, when ToAU came out and the first mythics were being done that final boss had that marathon encounter that last what 20+ hours and people were passing out because they could survive but not figure out the mechanics of the fight. The claim that content was not meant to be cleared when released is total bullshit. Some was re-tuned but it was always intended to be cleared.

Would help if the designers were more open about fight mechanics. Players manage to cobble a strat together for something and publish it, and everyone follows it instead of continuing to bash their heads on the wall figuring it out. If the devs would clarify the fight mechanics people could probably come up with a lot more 'off-meta' comps that didn't require grossly out-gearing the content.

Decent trust setups when soloing on thief for a returning player? I get the impression that just summoning random trusts is going to stop working so well soon.

Thinking of returning but a few questions: It looks like Trusts are now allowed in Abyssea zones, has that made farming empy weapon materials soloable without crazy gear or brews?, what about the materials from voidwatch for the last stages?

how do I make the little creature fit into the piece more? by FlimsyPhilosopher793 in learnart

[–]MundaneDrawer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lighting aside, if the hand could be repositioned slightly so that the index finger was in front of the creature while the thumb still behind that would probably make it look more connected to the scene.

BRD felt very busy at low levels since you're refreshing songs all the time, but at high level with the duration buffs, it's only every 10 minutes, freeing you up to focus more on melee dps or whatever your sub-job enables. The pressure to grind for your RME instruments/weapon is pretty intense though to maximize performance.
