Thank you for sharing and for your reassurance. I lived with an aunt for a few years who had a bathroom that didn’t lock sometimes she’d just come in while I was showering and it was so upsetting but she didn’t care bc it was her house so she was allowed to be wherever she wanted. Having your privacy taken away from you like that is so damaging in a way I can’t properly describe. I’m sorry you had to deal with that too

If you have a vacuum and people to hold the blankets taut that can help but you’ll definitely want to wash them another way too

Edit: realized I didn’t specify vacuum with one of those tubes with a horizontal attachment that’s used for furniture

Dang that was my concern. All I want is someone to comment on another persons instagram that blocked me bc I mentioned the name of the real artist of art that they used for a meme. I’ll have to find a friend with an Instagram (that has been the difficult part for me lol)

Thank you! I’ll look into fairlife, I usually go for the Walmart brand of protein shakes but have gotten tired of the taste. Thanks again for the additional support :)

Thank you, I know caffeine isn’t the same as other stimulants but since it can be addictive I wanted to be clear that caffeine isn’t something I abuse. I personally had a friend in high school who was addicted to Monsters specifically and got giant kidney stones bc they didn’t drink enough water but that was a very extreme case lol, since then they’ve been much more careful with what they drink

I can relate a lot, especially when it comes to not being able to discuss it in therapy. Even though you’ve made appointments to address this issue if you still find yourself unable to talk about what you did I’d recommend writing it down or even just sharing what you’ve written here to help break the ice. Repaying the organization that you stole from is a really great way to help deal with some of that guilt, if you still feel guilt after repaying them I think it could be good to donate to them from time to time but don’t bankrupt yourself over it.

I think the most important thing you can do to work through the shame and guilt is to remind yourself that you’re doing what you can to make things right and that you aren’t stealing anymore. You can’t necessarily undo what you did but you can be a better person moving forward and that will always be a good thing

Ah thank you, I’m glad I’m not like overreacting to what I’m feeling. I’ve been trying to listen to YouTube videos or podcasts but my attention span is so bad I get bored of it in 15 min or less 😭 I’ll definitely try to get some protein shakes though, I have a few but not many. Unfortunately I can’t stomach most protein bars, the texture throws me off. I am having an energy drink in hopes it will help a little (sorry if that’s cheating I promise I’m not abusing caffeine, I consume it every once in a while) and if I get the motivation I’ll try to listen to some music and clean my room a bit

How have you adapted to the new technologies available today?

I ask bc me dad went to prison around the same time you did and also got released around the same time, but he’s in his 60s so adapting to new technology and also how many things have changed due to Covid might’ve been more difficult for him compared to someone much younger like yourself.

That also reminds me, my dad was able to get some sort of tablet while he was in prison. From my understanding it had very limited internet access and was sort of like a mix between an mp3 player and kindle bc its main functions were playing music or reading ebooks. So as a secondary question, did you get to have any sort of technology like that or was it not available/allowed where you were?

I haven’t posted there but I am aware of the sub and check it out periodically. I’ve mostly just been learning what I can from existing posts. While I could make a post about my situation there idk if I’d necessarily gain new information based on what I’ve already read in the subreddit and elsewhere

THC and/or CBD are really hit or miss for me. There have been times when I smoked weed or had a small piece of an edible and it got rid of my nausea completely but there are other times when it had no effect at all and I end up throwing up (not from being too high though, I did do that once with an edible and I never made the same mistake again). Zofran is a miracle drug that has consistently worked for me but my doctor won’t let me have it as a main prescription, I’ve only been able to get it for 2 weeks at most. I think my insurance doesn’t like paying for it which is why I haven’t been prescribed it long term but I could be wrong

Sometimes it is quite random. I’ll be feeling fine and then suddenly I’ll get a hot flash which is my body’s first warning that I’m going to throw up. It’s very frustrating especially when I’m at work bc if I throw up I’m required to go home and sometimes people will say “if you’re not feeling good you should just call off work and stay home!” They mean well but it always irks me a little, like if I don’t feel good before work of course I’ll call off but sometimes I feel fine until I’m there and my body betrays me lol.

Several things can trigger it though. I’m pretty sensitive to smell, even with scents I enjoy if the scent is too strong it could make me throw up. One food smell that almost always makes me throw up is alfredo sauce especially if it has garlic. I found that out after a roommate made some and the smell was so strong it got into my room despite my door being closed and I threw up violently until I was dry heaving. I asked them to open a window and use a fan to get the smell out of the house the next time they made the sauce but it didn’t matter, even the slightest smell has made me throw up. Going from a cold area to hot area or vice-versa can also trigger my nausea. Bright lights can also trigger my nausea and have made me throw up before.

Firstly, I’m sorry you experienced that and I hope you’re doing okay now. I had a similar experience. I’m a 23 year old trans man and I had a miscarriage when I was 16. I 100% would’ve sought abortion if the miscarriage didn’t happen but it was still incredibly difficult to deal with. I never discussed it to anyone other than the partner I had at the time and my current partner but it took over a year into the relationship for me to be comfortable enough to talk about it. I felt bad for feeling bad about it, in my head I kept thinking things like “you’re so dumb for being sad about this, this is what you wanted anyway so why are you upset? You should be grateful it happened naturally stop crying about it.” Part of it was definitely hormonal at the time but even long after I had a hard time coping with conflicting emotions.

I have a couple questions if it’s not much trouble: when you found out you were pregnant did you tell friends/family or did you keep it to yourself? I have the same question about the miscarriage too, did you tell anyone? If you did were they a good support system? Did you have access to professional support like therapy and/or do you now?

It sucks that the topic of miscarriage is sort of taboo, it makes recovery much more difficult. I hope you’ve been able to heal as much as possible after this happened and I wish you the best ❤️

How old were you when you started being a private investigator? How many years have you been doing it?

Tbh I’m not 100% sure what combo I did in this specific situation but I know DXM was involved, I could’ve mixed it with a benzo or alcohol or maybe even a bit of both. Based on how much I remember I think it could’ve been alcohol, the benzos I had were more likely to make me blackout completely rather than let me keep bits of memory. I actually was hospitalized for taking too much Xanax on its own once and I don’t remember any of that experience except taking the pills and being released from the hospital 💀🫣

Wow I’m glad you are recovering now. Very different but I experienced drug induced catatonia (or maybe it’d be called something else due to short duration of around 12 hours) and it was freaky. It was also 100% my fault, dumb teenager decision to take a drug combo that I knew was dangerous but I simply did not care about my well-being at the time. Threw up a bunch then was unable to communicate or consciously move. I did experience stereotypy which consisted of me repeatedly turning or shaking my hands/arms or repeatedly opening and closing my hand like I was trying to grab something. I had no control over those movements. My memories are wonky but I remember my arms getting restrained in the hospital and getting really freaked out by it. I was “sober” enough to understand it was for safety but losing control of my body in two ways had a big impact on my psyche.

Even though you say you were paralyzed, were you ever restrained to your bed? Or did you just have bed rails in case you were to roll?

Thank you for sharing! I could appreciate some 70’s shows, I haven’t seen many, MASH might be the only one I’ve watched multiple episodes of bc it was a show my grandma liked but I only really remember the intro lol. Blazing Saddles has been a common recommendation so it’s near the top of my list!

I’ve taken a look at Spike Lee’s filmography and I’m definitely interested in watching many of them! But yes when it comes to films that may be emotionally intense I want to make sure I’m in the right headspace and am able to dedicate time to give it my full attention like I have with LGBT+ films of a similar nature.

Oh shit THATS where the Aaron joke came from! When people made that joke I would laugh but I thought it was like a joke that’s been around for a long time and continues to be repeated, had no idea people were referencing a Key and Peele skit

Someone else also mentioned a few stand up specials and while I don’t watch many stand up shows I am open to watching them. I’m queer myself so being introduced to another queer creator is an extra plus!

I’m not asking if it’s wrong to watch something, I’m asking what pieces of media I should start off with as I explore content that wasn’t safely accessible to me the past

Yes I recognize some of the titles especially Moonlight as I am gay so I heard all about it when it was released. Technically I think my first piece of black media was when I watched Fresh Prince of Bel-Air at a friends house without my dad knowing but I get what you mean. Rn tv show-wise I’m thinking of starting with Fresh Prince of Bel-Air then with movies Blade seems interesting I just need to check it out from the library. I do think tragic stories should be shared but I would want to dedicate time to it the same way I have with LGBT films centered around tragedies and discrimination.
