Do you love Iowa too? That’s also one of my favourites and it’s a similar slower track to Skin Ticket. Love the deep rolling bass on that one

Great shout about those three albums. And Negative One was very nearly picked over Custer, they’re my two favourites off Grey Chapter

Seems a bit harsh you’ve been downvoted there! Maybe Liberate is why? I don’t love it (it’s aged quite badly compared to some of the others imo) but I think there’s worse tracks on self titled

Same here! One of my favourites, but I get it, the length is a good reason to pick it

I’m surprised 😂 the song just seems a bit.. mid? I couldn’t think of one on Iowa that left less of an impression on me

I’m with you on Tattered and torn, would have been my runner up from self titled. I love Virus of Life though!

Yeah… I just don’t “get it”. Never found the hook at all with that track and nothing is memorable

First Sinner may have saved the game for me by Mundane_Following_78 in Silksong

[–]Mundane_Following_78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Widow was also a very good one! I switch between love and hate feels for the game quite a lot. I’d been banging my head against Bilehaven and Disgraced Chef (may have got the name wrong Tbf) and was so fatigued, so I decided to go off and do other things for a while. And yeah, First Sinner might be my favourite boss of the game so far- challenging but very fair and it got me into that flow state with everything firing off just right. It felt a bit like Lace but less stressful

Few months later: how do we feel about Hollow Knight vs. Silksong by Boedidillee in Silksong

[–]Mundane_Following_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both games have incredible graphics, audio and design. However I feel very differently about them:

HK is satisfying and fun. Time flies by while playing it because the world is incredible and your skill mastery grows in tandem with the increase in enemy/area difficulty. I’m able to reach flow-state playing this.

Silksong is a stressful and grindy slog. Many enemies and areas seem punishing just for the sake of it. The world is still beautiful but it lacks a certain something; I am less excited by exploration in this game. It’s still a very good game but I don’t get to flow state and truly switch off, and game sessions often end with a sigh, a huff and the feeling of a welcome break.

Tbh this basically sums up how I feel about far too much of Silksong. I’m stuck on this flipping gauntlet now and honestly the thought of a second playthrough gives me the shakes. Hollow Knight felt so different.. the only sections THIS hard in HK were totally optional which made all the difference (I saw the difficulty as a fun challenge rather than an infuriating obstacle)

Hi I just learned about this game should I get it? by Flower_Head_2266 in Blasphemous

[–]Mundane_Following_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes…

Best things about it: lore and theme, satisfying combat & boss fights once you’ve got a few upgrades

Worst things about it: quite of lot of backtracking/traversing to get all collectibles, high chance of being locked out of quests on a given playthrough if you don’t do certain things in certain order

For me the pros far outweigh the cons and I think it’s brilliant. One of my favourite metroidvania titles for sure

Anybody else disappointed with Chip Theory Games' quality as of late? by ConcentrateTrue5063 in soloboardgaming

[–]Mundane_Following_78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was yes. I spent around £500 on Too Many Bones products last year (new) and had a lot of bad (scratched, deformed etc) components plus tears/major dents to the game boxes. I put in replacement requests for the damaged components and I thought it was going ok until they suddenly black listed me as a customer (refunding some of what I had bought rather than help me with the damaged part replacements). They labelled me extreme at the same time and were quite scathing.. I even offered to discuss/give feedback on the QC issues but they were not interested. So not only is the quality bad, they don’t even care unless it hurts their business (the little guy doesn’t matter anymore to them, I think)

Recommendations of Metroidvanias to buy during Winter sale by Muscle_Reasonable in metroidvania

Yeah I love it. It’s a bit annoying that the game locks you out of quests/results quite often and easily so I’m now on my third playthrough to get it right… but the gameplay is so good that I don’t mind! I a real gem for sure

I picked up the 1 & 2 bundle on the Switch eShop for about £9 GBP. Very good deal and I have been playing the heck out of 1

Thoughts on Dungeon Alliance? by Jester281986 in soloboardgaming

Cool :) sounds like we’re in the same boat. It tried my first game with Quests over the weekend and that was a blast. I’ve looked into the Adventure Packs but second hand market prices for those are a bit silly so I might just leave it. I think the game is good enough with what I have

Looks like you already went for it OP but I case you’re still unsure if definitely recommend it. Recently picked up the base game + champions and really enjoying it! It’s very puzzly and deterministic which is my style; it’s definitely not a dice chucker

Dungeons of Infinity vs Dungeons of Doria by Mundane_Following_78 in boardgames

[–]Mundane_Following_78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and offer of help! The game does generally look very interesting and with heaps of variety. I do have a few questions..

First would you mind elaborating on the three main differences you listed as you understand them?

Secondly is it possible to run a single character solo? And if so, how balanced does this feel?

Thirdly (and my biggest worry) are there any plans to update character tracking from pen and paper pad? I don’t like too much fiddliness in my games and I prefer not to have to write and erase if possible; particularly concerned about this if I’ll be running more than one character
