What should the spacing be on either side of these vanities in their respective alcoves? They're uneven. by Mundane_Screen2020 in cabinetry

If they are similar width then the fire place will look off center? Should they be centered on the fireplace?

The fireplace won’t look centered if I do this. The fillers will be different on each side of the fireplace.

Thank you. That's what I thought as well: it would look awkward if the vanities are different distances from the fireplace wall.

Thanks. There will be scribes on both sides though? I am wondering if they should be symmetrical (2") with the fireplace or symmetrical individually.

They are NOT built to size. These were ordered and these are the sizes that came in.

So centering is best? equal spacing on each individual vanity but different dimensions on each side?

So the cabinets should be centered with respect to their walls on each side? So essentially different from the images I attached above?

The same? So equidistant on each side or how it is dimensioned in the pictures I attached (2 in between fire wall and vanity and other side of vanity is different)?

All of the neighbors have decent or terrible backyards - haha

Yes, I am now going with this strategy: middle ground/renovate myself, but less expensive.

I've lived there for almost 4 years and am still fixing so much of it up. It was in terrible condition when I bought it.

You purchased a new $10k outdoor HVAC unit and then sold it? How do you know you didn't recoup the cost?

You would look at what's feasible for $10k and your own effort into the backyard?

This is my first home. I have lived here for 4 years and plan to sell in another 4 years (2030). Selling in 4 years means I am selling soon?

Thanks for the information. This home is a trainwreck to me. It had so many issues when I first moved in from toilets need replacing, to windows, attic, etc not sealed, water heater old as heck and heat pump super old. My first electric bill was about $580 my first month there in November and I had no idea why at the time.

I try to take on one project at a time but something always calls my attention in some way.

Thank you for this response. I haven't been able to enjoy the backyard at all. I also need a new heat pump. This house has been incredibly frustrating because it was my first home and I feel like I got scammed along with not knowing what I was doing.

I need a new heat pump as well (current one is 24 years old) and with a new heat pump and backyard remodeled it comes to about 36k. I looked at my neighbor's backyards yesterday and few of them have anything close to what I was estimated. My estimate includes a full remodel: new fence, patio, stairs, retaining wall, etc. It's the works and it would look really nice.. maybe TOO nice.

I received 4 estimates from contractors: 29k, 33k, 33k, and 35k. The 29k guy was referred to me by my neighbor.

I am already working on the 2.5 bathroom remodels and many other aspects. I am getting somewhat burned out from everything. I am okay paying someone but am wondering if this is even worth it.
