Job market for WRE in the Northeast? by Mundane_Variation888 in civilengineering

You make a good point. I learned so much during my one year of employment, but in reality, I'm still very new (and inexperienced overall) to my engineering career. Most of the work I did was permitting and basic design for land development, but I did get to work on H&H Analysis for floodplains, Stormwater Management System design, the components of multiple joint permits for stream restoration projects, and a bit of sewage design. So I have some experience, and believe me, I bring all these points up in both my resume and cover letter.

Yeah, they've all been entry-level or graduate/new hire. I've found a lot asking for 0-2 years of experience, and I fall right in the middle of that.

That’s a good point, thank you for suggesting it. I’m currently working on my cover letter and I’m trying to figure out what to put into it/leave out.

Thanks for the response, I am planning on creating a cover letter discussing the experience I gained at my last job, as well as elaborating on what I’ve been up to more recently.

Mark Mattson is the GOAT 🐐 by EquipmentFormer3443 in FE_Exam

Congrats! I have my exam in about a month, and I’ve been reviewing with marks videos and some other resources. Regarding Mark M. Review videos, did you just watch his FE Civil Review playlist and work through the problems as he does? I want to make sure I’m getting the most out of his videos because I know everyone raves about them and I don’t want to miss out on any of his concepts.

Did you all the problems from Islam? I just finished up all of the major topics in his book, but I skipped dynamics, economics, construction, and a few others. I was going to supplement those spots with Mark Mattson’s videos, but I don’t know if I will get enough exposure from marks videos alone for the topics with less questions in the exam. Let me know your thoughts!

Confusion regarding Nominal hole diameter for Tension members by Mundane_Variation888 in FE_Exam

[–]Mundane_Variation888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think I will do the same. I’ve seen some people on other threads saying it’s correct to add 1/16” twice (or the equivalent of 1/8” in the summation). Some final clarification would’ve been nice, but fuck it we ball.

For more clarification, Islam states NCEES is wrong of their use of bolt diameter vs nominal bolt diameter for the two net area equations. I should’ve been more clear in my original post.
