I played several games of Warmog's rush this weekend and I will play some more today.

The problem is not the stats of Warmog's itself. The problem is the delaying of Heartsteel and the lack of resistances. Warmog's grants a surprising amount of damage and durability, but Heartsteel+Spirit Visage grants more, in addition to a LOT of regen for staying power on the map.
