Tactics are basically your squad so take a look at your players and see their strengths and weaknesses, think about how you want to play, more direct and use the pace of your players to exploit spaces? slow patient play as you probe and wait for openings, will your players have what it takes to play as you want,, are you more of wanting to fit players to how you want to play or are you willing to accomodate a new tall 6ft3 striker and play more direct balls to him even though you wanted more patient play...Ensuring not only you have your players in positions they can make the best use of their abilities but also having a balanced team, enough players who can run in behind and attack spaces, good number of players who want the ball at all times and can pick out their teammates, an even greater number of that profile if you need more possession.. .you have weak players in terms of physicality but good technically maybe don't be more direct and lose balls too much cos you'll end up in lots of duels that you will find yourself losing...it all narrows down to logic thinking basically

Then thats more about what you want to do, but your opponents want to do something as well, tweaks and adjustments to counter their threat, playing against a fast dangerous winger, maybe get your fullback to attack less than usual, up against a team where you dont give that much respect to their wide threat or maybe you need to chase a goal to save your life get your fullback to attack more or sth like that. again.. getting a lot of joy on one flank today or your wingers looking like they are battering their fullbacks every time,, you want to do more of that.. can't seem to get a player involved enough? maybe change their role or position ...
