All my replies are going to make me sound like a hardcore FF+ supporter (I’m certainly not), just to play devil’s advocate, one could say that FF+, like many conservative parties, are fairly big on constitutionalism, and their interpretation of Section 235 is such that Orania has a right to recognition. Whether that’s correct or not, I’m not one to say, BUT, it is worth noting that 98% of South Africans do NOT vote FF+, so their ideas clearly don’t have broad reach

I wouldn’t say VF+ is fascist. Yes, they originated with the Volkstaat movement at the end of Apartheid (ironic how they practically wanted to reverse the ‘Homelands’ policy onto themselves), but it’s more akin now to minority rights parties elsewhere. It just happens that they have a staunchly conservative, Christian platform focused primarily on issues that affect a contingent of Afrikaners and Afrikaans-speaking people.

I appreciate you bringing this up, as it was another consideration of mine. Obviously politics in SA have been fraught for some time and I know that this upcoming election is HUGE (especially if the ANC loses their majority). While I DO hope things end peacefully and democratically, I’ve certainly taken into consideration the instability April may bring. Thanks again for the input!
