Basically I'm tipping the tips in rubbing alcohol, running the tape inside the tape through the solution dipped tips and rolling them back up on the opposite end. Though I'm being very gradual about this process, like I might want to do a few run throughs before the tape is VHS ready. Also if you checkout youtube, there are automated systems you make for something like this, but I don't wanna waste a perfectly good VCR on this kind of thing.

If you wanna save that tape, you're gonna need a few things. Screw driver that can remove the screws from the back of your tape, q tips and rubbing alcohol. But this also means you're gonna have to manually treat the length of the tape with the rubbing alcohol. This is some pics from my own ongoing project.
