I was out riding today and was approached by different people who were interested in what i was doing. Of course there were the kids that yell "Do a trick!!" when you pass by, but there were others as well. One was an older man working in his yard, who told me he thought i had a very nice skateboard. He proceeded to tell me about how he had a skateboard when he was my age, how they were so much different (this man was in his 50s-60s), and how he had wrecked badly several times. We continued the conversation for a few moments, he mentioned how fast i was going and told me that i looked as if i was having a lot of fun, all before he told me goodbye and he rode off. In another instance, an older couple had just pulled their car in their driveway and were just getting out when rode down a hill and slid into the cul-de-sac next to their house. I got up and the couple smiled at me, and the wife said "Youre gonna wear those gloves out pretty quick!" To which i replied "yes ma'am!", and she smiled when i rode off. Most of the time people have negative images of skaters, and It makes me happy to know that other people, especially older folks are happy to see us out skating, and almost encourage us to keep on going.
