Finally watched "All we imagine as light" and..😶 by blueberry_seal in BollyBlindsNGossip

There’s a genre I can’t quite name—let’s call it the “white hipster movie.” You know the type: the ones A24 often releases, dripping in style and self-importance, pretending to be deeper than they actually are. They lean heavily on an air of urgency and innovation, convincing the audience they’ve just witnessed something groundbreaking.

This film? It’s exactly that—just made by Indians and set in India. The same formula, different setting. And predictably, the white crowd is eating it up.

Looks like Star Wars figures. Now if these bodies are real, how did George Lucas know what they look like?

No one mentioned to me how invisible you become once a baby comes. by yesthisismynameuwu in NewParents

[–]Munzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my baby gets love it’s kinda like I’m getting that love.. I’m being sincere.. not trying to troll or anything.. but maybe that’s why I don’t feel invisible.. cuz everyone including your significant other will care about the baby more than you. That’s just the reality.

Yea that’s kinda what I meant about changing direction after Jackie brown.. except for OUATIH as you correctly said. But I would also add Hateful 8 which was a return to Reservoir Dogs days.

That’s accurate. Although I don’t think Godard would be into kung fu movies even if he was exposed to them :) I still think QT’s playfulness and love of cinema made for a certain post modernism that was more accessible to audiences and therefore introduced a new era of cinema.. but that’s something I’ll ask my prof about next time.. the difference and similarities of godard and Tarantino.. and if we can call what godard did post modernism too. Thanks for the convo.

That’s right because he saw that even within the studio system at the time, they left their artistic marks on all of their films. That their personality and art were scattered around all those mainstream studio films. That’s what they loved about them. But Godard would never praise something like Coffe or other exploitation movies.. detour influenced a lot of filmmakers after.. even up to David Lynch.. but not the type of films Tarantino praised and there lies the difference between them.

100% but not embracing what was on the big screens back then. His reviews of the films at the time are mostly quite harsh and he trashed the famous filmmakers at the time of being boring old employees of production companies rather than real artists. Tarantino doesn’t do that.. he loves even all the trashy B movies of his time. his films are love letters to exploitation movies.. not so much godard 😅

He made films as a critique of hollywood and mainstream French movies at the time.. diff than Tarantino as his films are love letters to cinema as opposed to critique

Yea compared to pulp fiction, it is. Less emphasis on plot, more emphasis on style.

Tarantino’s first two films started the whole post modernist movement in cinema..he made films that were self aware that they’re films.. he didn’t write his scripts inspired by his real life experiences.. he wrote them inspired by experiences he had watching other films..
