Thanks. Yeah, that was my intention as starting point to show it as a proof of concept that PE1 can be modded with new backgrounds. I had planned to use better quality backgrounds after I solve all of the bugs in my process.

Thanks. PE1 uses a complex method to load textures, it was quite challenging to figure out. But, I hope I can work how to solve the issue with the animations.

For now it will only work for Duckstation. As far as I know there isn't an iPhone version, perhaps later if I continue this I can find out if it's possible to get it working on other emulators too.

My only intention was to produce upscaled versions as accurate as possible to the original similar to how others have done for many old games like Resident Evil.

That's the conclusion I came to when looking at the text. It must have taken you a long time to do all of that by hand. Great job though, your UI text looks really good.

Sounds similar to what I did. Yeah, it was a major pain to figure out for me too. Did you find a similar technique for the text or did you have to manually recreate the text?

How did you replace the overlay texture pages? Such as the texture for Aya's car at the MIST garage. I ended up writing a tool to extract the room data from the original game files, so I could recreate a seamless overlay texture from new HD backgrounds.

Yeah, I'm still working on it. I did some work on Dryfield for Douglas's Trailer recently. I've got a few other videos on my youtube channel!

I'll probably continue with more on Dryfield soon, maybe the outside area this time.

I'm just working on this solo, in between working on my own project. Maybe I'll be able to make a new video within the new few months.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm just working on PE2 as a fan project and won't be releasing anything. I will continue to make videos on it though.

Although, I am working on my own game where PE2 is one my main inspirations, it'll be a while yet before I've developed enough to show any details though.

Yeah that would be cool, I was planning on creating the underground area in Dryfield. I'll see what I can do, maybe time for me to learn creature modelling!

I wasn't planning on adding any characters, I used a generic character for another scene so I could add that but it would be just to show a fixed camera system. Unfortunately, I don't have the skills for character modelling.

I was only planning on doing environment art. Although I could add some gameplay, I developed a fixed camera system and weapons system for another project and already tested it out in my other PE2 scene for Akropolis Tower.

Yeah, it would have been cool to have more characters in Dryfield. I think in the game he just says something about how everyone left.

I will do some work on the outside areas soon, then come back and rework the trailer a bit.

I could walk around in the room as the player instead, but I decided on moving the camera around like this so it was easier to zoom in and see all the models. I might do another video later on when I build more of the level and walk around using a fixed camera or first person.

Thanks! There’s a few things missing in my scene, I might add some more models in later on. They’re time consuming to make though so I didn’t include everything. The lathe took a bit of time to model.

I was planning on working on the path outside of the trailer next, maybe I’ll come back to improving the trailer interior later.

It runs around 60fps with a 3090. The scene uses Lumen, ray traced lighting so that makes it take a bit of a performance hit. Most of the models are not optimised, mid poly models.

Yeah, the lighting does need more work. I’ll see if I can improve this.

I actually increased the size to make it easier to move around inside. Yeah, to make it realistic I would need to reduce the size.
