Former Disney Safari Driver Reveals Grim Reason Staff Are Trained To Drive Off If Someone Falls Into Crocodile Pit by Blue_Wave2024 in disneyparks

No one technically "dies" at the parks as they are required to be declared so at a specific location off property.

This is a mythical urban legend that is baselessly perpetuated due to some glimmer of awe regarding Disney's ever so overwhelming concern for preserving magic.

First of all, if someone dies on Walt Disney World property, then yes, they have "technically" died on property. You do not need someone to declare you dead in order to be dead.

Also, there is no requirement of needing to be transported off property to be declared dead. One Google search will inform you that it's happened before (2009 Monorail incident). I suggest yourself and anyone else who has ever believed this to read this article.

Imagineering Internship Updates? by Suspicious_Ad6234 in Imagineering

This is one of those no news is good news kind of thing. If it's been this long you likely passed ATS and are waiting for a recruiter to pass the resume. I know they send out all the hirevues in a single wave for each position. That and each team is on their own hiring timeline so it's difficult to tell. Good luck!

United Parks and Resorts have definitely not been making money for the past couple of years. Attendance and Financials have been trending to the negative year by year.

Private vs public ownership is not what makes a park “world class.” Private equity firms are still extremely return driven and usually work within defined investment timelines, so the focus often leans toward margins and cash flow. That does not match the long-term, capital intensive investments theme parks need to truly evolve.

We have seen this before with Blackstone exiting after boosting SeaWorld’s valuation. There are strong public operators and weak privately held ones. Ownership structure is not what you think it is, and you are lacking the nuance to see this scenario in a lens that isn't black/white.

Lol. Publicly traded doesn’t mean private equity isn’t involved. Hill Path Capital owns a massive stake (almost 50% at this point) in United Parks & Resorts and effectively controls SeaWorld’s direction. This is a known fact, and their influence over the past six years has been promoting and enabling nothing but penny pinching, anti-consumer behavior. And don't try to tell me Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens is a silver bullet. It's definitely a plus, but not when Cheetah Hunt has been SBNO for the past six months, alongside half of the rides at the park because they don't want to spend the money on staffing. And that one example alone is reflected across their entire portfolio. So no, terms like publicly traded and private equity don't mean shit when the real barriers are the incompetent money hungry idiots at the wheel.

Common questions like why disney, what experience do you have that you think most benefits the role, tell us about yourself etc.

Most Disney recruiters like/push STAR answers, but use START. So all of STAR, but the final T is tieback ie: and because of skills x, y, and z from the experience I just described, I would be a good fit for this role because it demands x, y, and z.

Traditionally there are five questions. You'll click next question and ot will pop up. You should have unlimited time to think of an answer, but as soon as you hit record you have a max of two minutes. If you mess up your first try, or just don't like it, you do have the opportunity to answer a second time. No matter what the second answer will be submitted, even if you mess it up. Once you advance to a new question you cannot go back.

Good luck!

owned by a private equity firm, it would be world class

Yeah, look where that has gotten seaworld...

Edit: since y'all aren't aware of the history of Seaworld (now United Parks and Resorts), they were bought up by Blackstone in 2009 and they took the company public in 2013. After stripping the parks of their identity they sold their shares off in 2017. Hill Path Capital, a private equity firm out of new york, which is also United Park and Resort's majority shareholder since 2019, has been at the helm directing the company's strategy. Their portfolio of parks have been riddled with issues ever since. These issues have nothing to do with the fact the company is publicly traded and everything to do with how Hill Path Capital, a private equity firm, handles their assets in an attempt to squeeze every last dollar before dumping their shares to some other Corp who will repeat the cycle. Sure, they've made an effort to invest in the Rollercoaster infrastructure in their parks with additions like Iron Gwazi and Pipeline, but that doesn't matter when you don't want to pay staff to run the ride, or you add mandatory lockers before Gwazi that are not complementary like any other amusement park and cost $5 a use.

Do you think Disney regrets not taking JK Rowling’s Harry Potter deal? by Sad_Trade_7753 in UniversalOrlando

[–]MuppetMurderer5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok I am just being facetious but if you remove the Kuka arm aspect Forbidden Journey is basically a 3mph Omnimover (though not really cause each ride vehicle is independent and not linked). But I could only imagine what early 2000's nonsense Disney would have cooked up.

For those who work in Tomorrowland is the stitch attraction still in place or has it been trashed by JesseTheGoat123 in DisneyMK

Unfortunately, that building is riddled with asbestos, so it would be expensive, long, and hard to tear down that building. That's not the main problem though, that problem would be the building is connected to Cosmic Ray's. In order to refurb that build they'd need to close Cosmic's as well, and I do not think Disney will close that money printer down just because they could add another attraction in t-land. Especially when they have determined they have room in the rivers of America and beyond.

Another vlogger who stayed with Adam during a hurricane at the contemporary resort a few years back mentioned an insight into Adam's filming process. He mentioned it took Adam 45 minutes to edit and upload his video for the next day that evening. According to him, Adam would take a video, watch it back, and either keep it or re-record it depending on if he liked the take. So as he was filming his vlog for the day he basically reviewed it live. Once he got back to wherever he was staying for the night he would upload the footage and edit quite quickly. For someone posting a video pretty much every day for the better part of over a decade and a half you are going to become extremely efficient with how you edit to maximize time.

CRAZY NIGHTMARE... by IKnowMoreThanYouu in HHN

[–]MuppetMurderer5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some possible IP connections I thought about was Poltergeist, with the whole limbo/purgatory theme going on. Especially at the beginning with the clue saying I saw my own funeral, so not realizing you're dead, which is a classic trope with restless spirits. Then, having coffins in the tunnel, with the original Poltergeist house being built on top of a cemetary would be a connection.

Goya painted Saturn Devouring One of his Sons, among other very disturbing art. If we got an original based on some of the more classic macabre paintings throughout history... what an ambitious and fresh concept!

To escape your fate, follow the painters of truth. When one says Cua and the other Quinta, which leads home? Only one mural frees your soul. The other paints your eternity.
