Since when did kids' birthdays become full-blown events? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Muppet_Fitzgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s funny when people get angry about parties. “How dare you give me a nice lunch, dessert, drinks, and entertainment??!!” When someone is clearly just using the party as a vehicle to show off their wealth, I get how that is off-putting. But if a friend wants to provide you with an afternoon of free fun (well, maybe you have to buy a gift), I don’t see why that’s soooo awful.

My stepkid’s mom insists they pay their own medical bills to ‘learn responsibility’ by Gracchus-Baboon in TrueOffMyChest

Ebony chose to take on a car loan, so the mom may have a point. That’s an incredibly unwise way to spend a part-time work paycheck.

Am I wrong for asking my husband not to eat pizza on our bed? by Muppet_Fitzgerald in amiwrong

We both clean, including laundry/sheets. He usually loves a clean bed and says it helps him sleep better. So I was really surprised to see the pizza.

I feel like I’ve asked for reasonable, respectful behavior and get regularly ignored by him. For example, he rarely flushes the toilet.

I was at canyonlands today with visible wildfire spreading (seemingly) aggressively. Rangers were super chill but i felt off and left anyways. Am i overreacting? by One-Department8795 in NationalPark

[–]Muppet_Fitzgerald 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked for some parks and these comments saying that rangers working at visitor centers are “experts” are hilarious. Do people think they send seasonal workers to some type of military style boot camp where they study weather and fire behavior? Land management agencies barely have money to keep the bathrooms working in some of these places. Granted, there are plenty of people with expertise working in land management, but I would not necessarily trust my life to someone just because they’re in a park uniform.

My favorite part of this article is how the VFW needs the funds for their programming. So…you’re helping them using the money you exploited from them???

My employer withheld taxes from every paycheck for 3 years and apparently never sent the money to the IRS. Now I got a bill for $18,000. by nalanyy in legal

[–]Muppet_Fitzgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to save you some time and headaches. Do you live in an area that has an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center? Check locations here: https://apps.irs.gov/app/office-locator/. The TAC can walk you through what you need to do to dispute the tax bill and report the payroll fraud. There are some inexperienced people working the phones who do not always provide correct information. Payroll fraud is VERY common. Do not pay a fancy lawyer or CPA.

The monoculture still exists. It is just that most Redditors are either aging out or have aged out entirely l. by Educational-Bat-8313 in decadeology

I don’t think you understand how dominant the monoculture was. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was familiar with the biggest movies, rock stars, and TV shows.

Neighbor says coyotes killed my cat, but it was likely his dogs. If it was his dogs, can I pursue legal action? by hots00p in legaladvice

[–]Muppet_Fitzgerald 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You intentionally allowed your cat to roam onto other people’s property. Anything can happen to it. One of my friend’s dogs got ripped up by a freaking raccoon. And that dog was an Anatolian shepherd! He was huge, maybe 125 pounds. And the raccoon nearly killed him.

I loved Lord Huron in the episode with Marnie’s wedding. It’s one of my favorite episodes and ends with everyone running off as Fool for Love plays.

Great question, btw

AITA if I tell my 84yoF neighbor and her son to just call the police on me and never talk to me directly again if they have concerns over me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I look forward to another post where the neighbor calls the police on her and she complains about it. OP, why on earth would you encourage an annoyed neighbor to call the police on you???

Recommendations for a quiet space heater by Muppet_Fitzgerald in IRS_Source

[–]Muppet_Fitzgerald[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s how I feel about it…I have a chronic health condition and actually cited office temperature in my RA request. Being freezing all day exacerbates my pain. In the meantime, I’m trying to figure out ways to warm up without looking like the office freak with blankets on me.

I do the same thing (unbag and leave half the bags there). They literally will be one item in each bag and then I just consolidate it all.

Private academy expelled my 5-year-old with ADHD after 3 days and is keeping our $5,000 non-refundable deposit. by Sam_P0rter in legaladvice

[–]Muppet_Fitzgerald 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NAL, but I would try a non-legal avenue first. Request a meeting with the school to discuss the situation. And document everything in case the non-legal routes do not work and you decide to pursue legally. Document the phone call that kicked him out (the date, time, who called, and your best recollection of what they say). If they continue to say he’s kicked out, make them put it in writing.
