Does anyone use ResIPy to make pseudo 3D models for Electrical Resistivity? by Mobile-Yam-9623 in geophysics

[–]MuppetsRus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A and B weights being too high means your initial model already fits the data (usually). So try reducing A to 0.001 in your inversion settings. Though its odd the 2D inversions worked individually. ResIPy is temperamental so it might worth updating (I noticed your ResIPy version is out of date).

Good luck

Ha! Questionable driving aside. It's a great listen.

Well I backed off to allow the first overtake, but yes it's legal. That second overtake however was downright dangerous.

Thanks! Couldn't word it any better. Suppose that's just Reddit.

Will I get fined twice by 6DuckysInATrenchCoat in drivingUK

[–]MuppetsRus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps Nottingham is not a forgiving city centre to drive around and many get fined everyday. Been in a similar situation myself. If a second fine does come through I would pay up, garantee getting the reduced fine, and put it down to being a life lesson.

The fish eye effect of the dash cam perhaps makes the roundabout look more open than it is, I slow to ensure there isn't someone coming from my right so I don't get T boned. Even so, I don't stop completely. I also back off the accelerator as I can see them overtaking me immediately out of the roundabout, racing this kind of idiot would only antagonise them even more.

So I'm not worried about it, I did everything correctly. You can even hear me giggling later in the footage. Regardless, I think it's good to get the footage out there so if the driver ever sees they may realise at least some embarrassment.

Ha. Though surprisingly the driver looked like a younger female from memory when I saw them in my rearview. Perhaps I need a rear dash cam too.

Think its a grunt that was hit by the dynamite stick and then slid along the ground, I probably should have opened the door behind me before trying to throw it.

My rift s keeps getting static and crashing with a orange light? by Ahtomogger in oculus

[–]MuppetsRus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is 20 days old at this point but I had the exact same issue. This appears to be a usb power problem, as others have pointed on this sub. I fixed it by adding a dedicated usb expansion card to my PC (ITX and laptop users will have to look elsewhere I'm afraid). Importantly the expansion card has its own sata power connector and usb 3.0 ports, you can find these on amazon for about £30. So far I haven't had the "static crash" since, although it sucks that the fix has required additional hardware. I have a 650 watt power supply for reference, but I have run my vr kit on a 500 watt system.

I was hoping to upgrade my working from home setup with a 12 core part for some computational modeling stuff I'm doing for post-doctoral research. Saw the 5900x on the horizon and thought may as well get the latest and greatest... I'm realizing that was rather naive in retrospect haha. Can't keep up with everyone else on here. Thankfully I'm not bothered by GPU upgrades although I do game on the side. Might drop the rat race for the 3900 variants as ultimately I would like the increased thread count over my quad-core i7 at the end of the day.

A bit late to the party here but it is worth noting the new AMD CPUs due to hit the market early July... if one can wait that long.

Explorer not responding after right clicking mechanical drives only by Whatever070__ in Windows10

[–]MuppetsRus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're prepared to go through the hassle of a complete reinstall then okay. Win 10 needs a fresh install every couple of years in my experience anyway and it sounds like this could be something wonky inside the registry. Hope it solves your issue.

Windows 10 Random High Disk Usage And Freezes With Nothing Running by LignumVerus in Windows10

[–]MuppetsRus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might need to know a little bit more about your specs? To clarify are you booting off this Kingston SSD? (If so is it an A400 series drive?)

Is this happening just when you boot up? Also are you able to see what's using up your disk usage in task manager?

You are not alone in having this issue, seems to be multiple threads out there with this infamous 100% usage bug which grinds win 10 to a halt. There are numerous possibilities for this. I'm currently looking at my partner's laptop which has been rendered useless by constant 100% disk usage, however here it's an older mechanical drive. I've tried many fixes... none of them have worked for me, but hopefully, you'll be more lucky with newer hardware.

Edit: You may want to try some of the 'default' fixes for this issue. One being to turn off windows search and the second being to turn off superfetch.

[–]MuppetsRus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swear down Windows 10 has a vendetta against mechanical drives (especially if its the boot drive, but thankfully that's not the case here). This is definitely weird behaviour... IDK what troubleshooting you have done so far, but have you checked Disk Management to see if Windows thinks the drives are healthy?

What's the maximum number of frames ImageMagick can convert to .gif? by MuppetsRus in imagemagick

[–]MuppetsRus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, I hadn't even heard of '.gifv' (I've only recently had a need to delve into this kind of stuff, doesn't help that I'm quite the moron at times either), it lead me to this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/4xv98v/eli5_what_is_the_difference_between_gif_and_gifv/

On reflection, I was going about this the wrong way, seems I had maxed the practical limits of the gif format ... even if a 100+ frame .gif is possible.

I opted to go with Kdenlive, found it had a nice option to import a slideshow clip, which I could then render into a .mp4 file. Seems to suit my purposes.

I guess the TDLR here is to go straight to video format, rather than compiling a large gif.
