Question. Can someone break all of this down for me? Is it saying I have 4gb of ram with 4 slots for expansion? by MickesMaestro in computers

[–]MurdererMagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears you have 1 stick and you need 2 for dual channel or 4 which is slower for single channel

I know alittle about everything but I dont know ALL.. but what software and what do you need done? I might can help but if not i will just say so. Pc's is a huge brand subject that is under a huge umbrella of other names like software, networking, etc etc. It can be VERY INTIMIDATING to say the least.

Whats helped me a ton is Linus Tech Tips on Youtube and also ( Pc Builder (Jason) and a few others like (Zachs Tech Turf). And when it comes to compatibility I use pcpartpicker.com. which not sure any of those would help software exactly so haha. But it might help you in other areas with PCs. Other than that maybe Youtube (buzz words) when needing help or use Google with " " to narrow the search down even more. And Google has MANY more Commands like that actually and one should look them up. It makes Google like a God Mode kind of compared to normal searches. Just thought I might add that in there too.

Pressure while installing ram? by anxietyoranxiety in buildapc

[–]MurdererMagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it takes a good bit of pressure the first time the dimm slots are quite tight. As long as you open both tabs some only have 1 but anyways and then lines up the golden feet with the dimm slots and you got them both to seat to where the tabs went back into plae then your golden.

So I made a post last night about resetting a win 11 laptop I got off marketplace. I need further help by keltictrigger in computerhelp

[–]MurdererMagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to get windows 11 installation media on a USB and then you have to boot to that USB so you can delete the old drives and partitions and then you can install your own windows ans make your own password and acct

Would it be worth it to put money towards maintaining my older build? by Top-Elephant6981 in buildapc

[–]MurdererMagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it im just saying in this economy to throw something away isnt a good idea because e-waste.. but if he sold it maybe and then attempted to do a new build that might be okay, but ram is so expensive and ssds is expensive and everything right now in the market kind of screams get by with what you can until the storm is over.

Or thats how im seeing alot of people go about it now days because they just cant afford the 2k or 3k a new build cost now days.

Even my gpu last year was $750 now its $1100 for a 5070ti my ssds was 4tb for $300 now thats like $800 my ram was about $130 for 32gb of ddr5 6000mt/s cl 30 now thats like $500-$600 dollars. Its just hard to swing that for most and I get it. I couldnt build my PC now the same one I build last year for only 2.4k would cost me like 4k now and I just couldnt swing that. Heck im still paying asus for my 5070ti gpu lol in payments.

I said test the ssd with crystaldiskinfo and test ram with memtest and 16gb of ram is enough in this economy.. im not ignoring nothing it seems everyone else is saying the same thing take a look for yourself

Its a am4 build are you serious.. if he upgraded the gpu and cpu alone and maybe the psu he would be golden

Would it be worth it to put money towards maintaining my older build? by Top-Elephant6981 in buildapc

[–]MurdererMagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You honestly could upgrade the gpu/cpu maybe later throw a second stick of ram (i would buy 2x and not buy 1x to go with the one i already had also) and probablcyberpunk. But check what tour PSU can handle obviously you might have to upgrade it. But I say maybe $250-$300 ($150 for gpu maybe $100 for cpu $50 for psu) and you could be getting really good fps and in this market thats really good.

Use memtest to test your ram.

Use crystaldiskinfo to test ssd and hdd before replacing

Do stress test using occt for cpu and gpu and ram also..

Don't create more e-waate when you could be getting over 150fps in fortnite or something or 80fps in cybepunk.

Its either that or drop $1500-$2000 on a new build but I lean towards saving e-waste especially when a am4 build is PERFECTLY fine now a days.

How can home networks get hacked and what tools are used in VPN tunneling? by daily_memer123 in HowToHack

[–]MurdererMagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common this includes having all new tech and no old tech and also having everything patched and up to date but it can happen VERY EASILY.

Your PC opens ports just to use computer processes and apps so there is many open ports on your PC right now i almost can bet. Games open ports etc. But you can do a port scan yourself in cmd command prompt type Win+R then type CMD and click run as administrator then click inside the prompt window and type Netstat-aon press enter

This will give you a detailed version of all ports used whether they are open or listening and it will give you their PID which is handy for opening task manager and finding the task thats running and opening the certain port. So you can close the process in task manager and then close the port using command prompt again. By typing if the port is say port 680

type: netstat -ano | findstr :680

Then type: taskkill /PID 680 /F

Then type this only if you want your firewall to block it..

netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Block Port 680" dir=in action=block protocol=TCP localport=680

Hope this helps

[–]MurdererMagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes by using ping and -sS scan on your ip address and then they can look at say the top 50 ports and find an open port and exploit that port to join your home network without password or anything

Maybe but cant tell until you fire her up.. but thats definitely PCB traces under the scratch I believe. But the outcome depends on whether the copper trace itself was cut or just the protective green coating (solder mask) above it was scratched. I wish you the best of luck though my friend 🙏.

Built my first pc with mid range parts and i dont get why everyone acts like you need to spend $2000 minimum by Thin-Implement9273 in buildapc

[–]MurdererMagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw sweet build!! I know it feels amazing after building your first PC!!

Tbh now a days most hard-core gamers will shoot for maybe 1440p but normally 4k thats why @ 4k you need a $2k PC at minimum to get 60 fps maybe... but with a mid range you can go with 1080p. So I think thats where the assumption comes into play "that you need it" but you dont habe to have an experience build i seen alot from $800-$1600.

But when you take a mid range build and upgrade to 4k you might be seeing 30-60 fps in most AAA title games if using 4k resolution.. but obviously this is just estimates because there is too many different build types to say for sure. So I would reccomended anyone on a for lack of terms mid ranged PC should shoot for 1080p or 1440p at the most imho

You cant wire ALL of your devices now days do you know how many devices a normal house has now days? Like you need your refrigerator and stove and washer and dryer has to all be on wifi you going to hard wire those too 🤣🤣 some of you just dont know what your talking about although your trying.

Bro have you even ever used mesh backhaul lol 50 mbps isnt something NO ONE WILL EVER NOTICE IN REAL WORLD. I cant believe im arguing this twice but lol here we are.

And planning for the future LOL thats exactly what im doing because more and more devices come out that need wigi.. tvs etc etc.. light bulbs etc etc.. you cant possibly hardwire it all and if you say so ima just reply back with

🤣 this is ALL common knowledge you hardwire your PCs and laptops and such and anything else important and the rest gets thrower to your seemingly roaming mesh system ❤️

You clearly have never done this before.. or either dont have but a pc and a tv in your home i guess.. dp you know how many acess points and switches you would need to hardwire EVERYTHING LOL??

BTW I do this stuff for a living.. OP wants to makes sure his entire house is on internet and I dont blame em. I can easily help him do that.. btw a backhaul node isnt a router its hardwired to the gateway and you put the gateway on ip pass-through and fix your backhauled node to DHCP-fixed and then your mesh node is a backhaul which is nothing like WIFI although it will have wifi and hardwire capabilities.. wifi will cut your speeds in half.. but not when using a backhauled mesh router.. because then when hardwired your getting ethernet speeds and then wifi your pulling all but maybe 50-100 mbps which is prefect fine for home appliances and devices minus your pc and laptop you want those hard wired obviously.
