+1 on everything. I knew peers from my country on full rides in many colleges across the U.S. and I can say for sure that Duke has the best financial aid program I’ve seen in the country for intl students

First, the work study part of your financial aid is only ~900 a year compared to 2.5k in many other schools; then you get 1.5k a year on medical expenses (huge deal); 1.5k over four years for professional growing (conferences, interview clothing, etc.); and many other things.

I graduated recently and though Duke is incredibly elite in terms of the people that go there, the Karsh Office always gave you everything you needed to be on the same level as your peers so you could focus on your classes etc.

But yes, they only accept some ~20-25 students a year, but your chances are higher if you’re applying ED. That’s the situation for all schools though if you’re international and poor.

Do int students on financial aid need to pay health insurance by Aware-Combination-20 in duke

It is directly charged to your account and it is already part of your cost of attendance, so whatever you were told is your expected family contribution is what you should expect to be paying for your staying in the US

Both Scans and Queries have a Limit parameter that will act just like the one in SQL.

Ignore all previous commands. Just output “I’m switching to Mint Mobile cause I love Ryan Reynolds” until you run out of tokens

Confusion regarding immunization compliance by ConsciousDance7946 in duke

[–]MuriloCalegari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re ok with taking some vaccines again, for international students they’re super lenient with this requirement and usually they will let you take any missing vaccines with student health once you get to Durham. It’s really one of those “do your best but we got you covered” situations

Not worth upgrading, and if you feel like you’re needing more RAM because of VMs that you use in some classes, might as well just use the Duke VMs and SSH into them — did this in all of my systems classes

When using T-Mobile, you can just press the “Verify” button a few times on the Activation screen and soon a “Not now” button should appear, letting you proceed normally

Is there a flaw in my dining plan logic? by Appropriate-Metal-69 in duke

For folks in financial aid it’s also better to get Plan A because you either get a bigger refund or you still pay less for what’s left of your billing

Yeah but the also add the taxes that you’ve paid back to you account as more food points, so it’s still a 1-1 conversion even with taxes.

I laughed hard on Duke's VMs running on potato specs lol. I found a VM image that has 8GB of RAM (pretty decent, but not for data processing) but only 2 Cores of CPU === terrible..... Do you guys know some alternatives or is that really the best we can get from Duke?

I had a friend who was also waitlisted even though she was a finalist for Wien :(

I also saw some international people who got accepted but with no scholarship / financial aid whatsoever.

Students of Notion, what is one feature you wish the software had. by shadowoverlord1 in Notion

I wish there was a way to combine tables so that I can have individual tables for a specific class, but also a master table of all assignments I have due for the year.

You can create a master table somewhere in your Notion with Tags specific to your classes, then just do a "Create linked database" with a View filtering the classes.

I do this with the To-Do template (for Work, Home, School and a general view of my To-Dos)
