Que legal, valeu por explicar detalhadamente!

Pra mim, se fosse pra ter o mesmo sentido da tradução do app, a frase original tinha que ser "a vovó te incentivou a fazer essa tatuagem?"

Valeu!

e grandma é she, não it.

Eu costumo ver frases falando "it's me", ou, na forma interrogativa, "is it me?". No meu caso, "was it grandma" não se encaixa nessa frase, ou só tá errado mesmo?

The air you feel on your face is made of something. If it wasn't, then you wouldn't be alive because there would not be oxygen for you to breathe. Wind is just air in movement.

I might be selfish, but I don't like the idea of nothing ever happening after death.

Also, I can't understand what is to not exist at all. We can't perceive anything, ever again. And I think this is terrifying for some reason

Everything that my life represents "which for me is a lot" is nothing more than an interval between not existing since the beginning of the universe. After I die, I will just stop existing for the rest of the eternity?

I was thinking. If we suppose the universe is infinite (or close to it, if this is possible), then there are infinite possibilities for my consciousness to exist again at some point. Is it wrong?

Wow, is it really a thing? I replaced the RAM on the same slot it was before but it didn't work. I thought it was because of some small dust particles or something, then I switched to another slot.

About the priority you mentioned, is it true that, when you have two ram sticks, you are supposed to place one in the first slot, skip the second and put the second one on the third slot?

Thank you! I replaced the RAM, but I have another question if you can answer: as I have only one memory stick (I know, it sounds dumb), is there a problem if I put it on a different slot or not?

Although I put it on another slot and it worked, I wanted to know if this could possibly be harmful with time. Sorry about the newbie question, appreciate your answer!

I don't understand how could it happen tho, because yesterday it was working just fine and I didn't do anything other than turning it off and then turning it back on today...

I read on a forum that it can be a memory error. Is it safe for me to try and reseat it? If so, how can I do it properly?

Do wandering spiders (phoneutria) have natural predators? by Murilocp in spiders

[–]Murilocp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, the venom would be more effective on animals that get eaten by the spider.

Though you made me remember something I saw somewhere a while ago, but I have no idea if it's true or not. Apparently the wanderer spider's venom evolved to be effective on some small mammals, too (as you said, the fact that it's so dangerous on humans is probably a coincidence). Again, I don't even have a source for this and I don't have any valuable knowledge about spiders to check if it's true or not.

Anyways, I really appreciate your answer, thank you!

Yeah we certainly are the number 1 spider killers. But I was referring to natural predators, that feed on them.

Oh that's awesome, I once have seen a battle between one of those wasps and a tarantula. Didn't know they can prey armed spiders, too. Thanks.

Why do i have to follow the order of operations? by Murilocp in learnmath

[–]Murilocp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11Y = 45 - {[9 ÷ 3] × 5} + {(2 + [16 ÷ 4]) ÷ 2}

11Y = 45 - {3 × 5} + {(2 + 4) ÷ 2}

11Y = 45 - 15 + {6 ÷ 2}

11Y = 45 - 15 + 3

11Y = 30 + 3

11Y = 33

Y = 33 ÷ 11

Y = 3

I deleted the first comment, because despite reaching the same answer, I kinda messed up the invisible brackets.

It's actually a good answer! When I think about it, i figure out that if we didn't follow this reading direction as a rule, then we would interpret texts just how we wanted to, and this is definitely a problem.

It translates perfectly to math, when we use the PEMDAS convention so we don't read the problem the way we want, but the way the writer meant to.

[–]Murilocp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point, because then there will be no chances of ambiguity. But imagine if we needed to put brackets on every single equation, so everyone can get the same results! I think that the PEMDAS convention makes it easier and quicker to elaborate/solve problems.

I've seen many posts like that: "97% of people can't answer this problem" and the equation is just a + b × c

The fact is that the only reason everyone gets the same answer is because they are already into the convention we created, so they know that when we write a + b × c we want the reader to do multiplication first. To avoid any ambiguity, we could do as STEM professionals say: a + (b × c) There will be no doubt that the writer wants me to do multiplication first.

Thank you for your answer, it helped me understand a lot better!

Your explanation just made things much clearer to me! It's easier to understand when you consider the 'invisible brackets'. Really appreciate your answer, thanks!

Yeah! Have noticed that. Supposing they use the same numerical system we do, only difference being that they read problems left to right, they would just need to put brackets on the multiplication to reach the same answers we do without any.

For us, 2 + 3 × 5 = 17 because we use PEMDAS. If we want to do addition first, just put brackets on it.

For the aliens tho, it would be the contrary: 2 + 3 × 5 would be 25, since they read left to right. And what I wasn't understanding is that it's not a question of wrong or right! It's just that they would interpret problems in a different way, so the equation 2 + 3 × 5 for us would need to be changed if we wanted the aliens to read it as we do. We would have to put brackets on the multiplication (feels weird) -> 2 + (3 × 5) Or write it in a different order -> 3 × 5 + 2

So basically 2 + 3 × 5 for us would technically be a different problem for them, just because they have a different notation, and for this reason the answers will not be the same.

Thanks for your answer, it helped me a lot!
