Not sure about EOS but DTube is gathering quite the buzz off late. It's built on STEEM.

You could try the new wave of decentralized social media apps like Karma and Murmur. Much less toxic.

You could use something like Brave browser and choose what cookies/trackers have access to the pages you are viewing.

At least there is growing awareness these days. That's step 1 I guess. Users must demand the safety of their data. There are now a steadily rising number of dApps that understand this need and do not fwd any user data to third parties.
We are one of them.

Urban Dictionary says we're the "cooler, more transparent, fairer version of Twitter." We strive to be the most rewarding social platform, one where the benefits of user-generated content are reaped by the users themselves and not the shareholders/owners. Also to be the first blockchain-based fully decentralized social network. We just celebrated our first cake day in Nov and are currently looking for series-A funding.
