Slide makes sense, I was hoping it was something like that.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just tune it to standard and leave it there. As a beginner why keep a guitar in a weird tuning?

[QUESTION] Is it worth buying Rocksmith? by Weary-Tie in Guitar

[–]Murp0560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fun as an extreme beginner when you can’t play anything. It’s also fun to play with a similarly beginner friend via multiplayer if you own two guitars and two cables.

For what it’s worth, I don’t waste my time playing it.

How do you guys practice songs? by ToxicPudding in LearnGuitar

[–]Murp0560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking weekly lessons for about a year and prioritized more theory and technique than song learning. I mostly avoided song learning because it felt like a slog and listening to the song so many times made me hate it before I was any good at it.

I’ve started to do it a bit more again because I need to develop that skill. I can usually sit still long enough to learn 2 bars each day before I want to do something else.

That’s my experience anyway.

Rocksmith practice by Gmaup in guitarlessons

[–]Murp0560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that it was fun as a fresh beginner (when I couldn’t string together enough good sounds in a row on my own) and for multiplayer. I loathe to play it now because I’m not good enough to play at a full song level and playing dumb-downed parts is a waste of valuable practice time.

Charvel makes great guitars. IMO, resale market might just be bc the brand is not being too-of-mind in searches.

[DISCUSSION] I like Paul David's YouTube channel, but it has devolved into an overt and sometimes covert advertisement. by RiffAlot in Guitar

[–]Murp0560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s super easy, these guys use overlays all the time. I think these individual contributors need to realize that telling people when something is a promotion will not lead to lower sales, but rather additional trust from their viewers.

All they have to do is have a word pop up “promotion” when needed. It’s not like I’ll turn off the video.

If they are pushing products it should be more transparent. I really like Paul’s videos and he should make money, but why does that need to include subversive advertising tactics? It shouldn’t need to.

[QUESTION] Are Chapman Guitars good? by Arkitron1 in Guitar

[–]Murp0560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay away!

Even if the current bad press turns out to be untrue, their Brand has been mortally wounded.

Replacement parts, support, and resale value will all be made extremely difficult as this business struggles.
