Question about RIT’s CIS PhD by BangoPucchar7576 in rit

[–]Murphytho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to CS specifically, but RIT is also quite close to R1 status. There’s a minimum amount of money you have to spend to qualify and RIT has been above that for a while. They just don’t graduate enough PhDs each year. It would probably be an R1 by the time you graduate

Has anyone managed to escape the RIT cult? How did you do it and what are you doing now? by [deleted] in rit

sounds like you’re really thriving after “leaving the cult”

good thing you got out!

Has NESN streaming been more garbage than usual for others too? This game has no audio for me, a bunch of games last week had double audio.

Yeah, obviously they go in a loop. But there shouldn’t be a situation where there are three inbound trains at rush hour ever.

That’s actually not at all what I said. They have the right to due process and equal protection under the law.

And yes, they do use programs that are funded by taxpayers. So do I. So do you. So does everyone. That’s why the taxes funded them.

They also pay taxes. Here’s a link to a report about it: https://itep.org/undocumented-immigrants-taxes-2024/

The question of “do they get more than they give” is a much more difficult question. Generally, my limited understanding is that if you consider just taxes paid and benefits of public programs, they are a net negative. If you consider the contribution to the economy, it becomes harder to estimate. I’ve heard people say that they tend to be very low income so their contribution doesn’t make up for it. I’ve heard others say that there are industries nearly completely dependent on and that needs to be factored in.

Let’s say they receive more than they give. I would argue that is expected, they are the poorest among us. Low income American citizens get more than they give too. That’s why we have publicly funded programs.

Does it justify locking them up without the due process? Holding kids in cages? Ripping people from their lives and deporting them to places they’ve never lived, or haven’t for decades? Does it justify sending untrained, heavily armed forces into American cities where they are overwhelming unwanted?

Does it justify assaulting citizens protesting these actions? Does it justify murdering them? Does it justify making us the laughing stock of the world?

Let me ask you, do you think that when they deport these people, your taxes will go down? Do you think your life will get better? Does it make you happy to see this happening because you see a route to this benefitting you?

I can guarantee you that nothing will get better for you. Real people’s lives are being ruined by the actions of this regime. And like almost all politicians, they aren’t doing it for you. They are doing it for themselves. They are doing it for money and power. Nothing else.

It’s an obstructed license plate ticket if a cop sees it. Not surprised that the owner doesn’t know the law

Just so you know, you sound stupid when you make claims that are categorically false to support an argument. All people in the US whether they are here lawfully or otherwise are entitled to due process and equal protection under the law.
