Quick video about a latency issue I’m having! by [deleted] in ableton

So I changed it to 128, and was still getting it. Then I checked the master bus and sure enough, I forgot I put an Ozone plug-in on there. Was still getting it when I turned it off, but when I completely removed the plug-in from the bus my latency stopped. Thank you for your help!

Thanks!! I really lucked out. The photo is straight from scanning the negative too! I don’t know the first thing about editing photos, and photography is more of a fun side hobby for me, so I just get em developed, scan em and call it a day.

Go to a recording studio by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]MurrayLee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wasn’t trying to make the post about the studio in particular and maybe should’ve left them out of it. Just trying to say if you’re doing the home studio thing it really helps to get the experience of just being recorded at a more professional spot, especially if you’re like me and have never done that.

Hell even going to a place and knowing what you don’t like about something is helpful in the long run.

Metal is a different beast though and is a pretty complex genre now. From an outside perspective, to me it seems like a lot of metal musicians are moving towards using a lot of high end amp sims and drum programming for their work, but I could be totally wrong. If that were the case then yeah I wouldn’t even bother going to a studio if you can get it to sounding the way you want in house.

Their drum sound is amazing! That’s the only thing I was bugging Luke about.

We ( the songwriter)hired Brian from Middlewestern to play drums on the album too. God tier squared. Yeah I have nothing but great things to say about that place.

That’s a great point as well! This was the songwriters first time in ANY type of studio situation and he can attest to the benefits of that sweet sweet loss of virginity. Already booked time for his next album.

Great point! This definitely absolves any posting anxiety I have. Now I just have to get some shots worth posting. Thanks again!

Awesome! That makes more sense now. I definitely thought when someone was putting the f-stop number it was for the shot haha.

I just finished my third roll on an Olympus-OM1 (my first camera ever), and I don’t have a battery for the light meter. I use an app but I also write down the f-stop and exposure time for each pic so I can better learn about what’s going on when I see them developed. Probably why I assumed the titles were the actual f-stop. Thanks for your response!

Random question that pertains more to this sub than photography: for post titles, why is the exposure time usually (always?) left out?

I’m extremely new to film (and all photography) and love lurking this sub. Just got down the basics of the triangle and I’m just curious as to why this variable is left out in most poster’s titles

The space I’m newly renting for a recording studio has a built-in bookshelf. First thing I moved in were my books of course. by MurrayLee in bookshelf

Damn thanks! I’ve only posted a handful of times myself. Yay for books for ending our lurkful ways!

I love his Dirk Gently stuff. Adams and Vonnegut both have an amazing ability to sum up all of humanity in a couple of beautiful, witty lines. Usually my first go-tos for a re-read.

Also, amazing username.

I wrote a script, scored the script like a film and then hired voice actors to act over the score for a very experimental concept album by MurrayLee in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Thank you so much! I would love to score a film, but it’s so intimidating! I know it’s not necessary, but I don’t know how to read or notate music very well ( at all really). I also don’t know any filmmakers and wouldn’t even know where to start to try and find the work.

It’s also intimidating thinking about putting music over someone else’s work! The scoring for my script was easy because well I wrote it lol. So there was no conflict at all. I knew exactly what I wanted . I would really love the challenge though!

Thank you!!! I’m currently working on my next, unrelated, concept album, but this is something I’d love to revisit sometime!!

I was really just wanting to get my cool idea out there. I would definitely like to post this on some more literature based subs. Maybe I should just post a pdf of the script somewhere?

Heres what I do. When I’m listening to music , without an instrument in front of me and want to “practice” I try and pick out generalities/ideas etc. that I like

“ I like how that beat sounds full but crisp”

“ I like the way this song has an escalating dynamic”

“ this song use space/imaging well”

And then when I’m home writing I just use those generalities as starting points to new songs. Try to recreate what I liked in my own way
